Job Description

Position Summary

Primary Purpose of the AMFT/ASW position performs supervised individual and group counseling and attends weekly supervision. This role provides assessment treatment planning and clinical service counseling. They may also perform other related tasks that are a part of the agencys operation. Work is supervised by professional staff and individual clinical work is supervised by a licensed clinician. All employees at Westwind are required to adhere to policies and procedures of the company.

Essential Duties Responsibilities and Core Competencies

The essential functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provides direct service psychotherapy with a caseload up to 8 clients per week.
  • Facilitates up to 5 groups per week.
  • Provide quality client assessment treatment plan development assist/communicate client needs to case management provide crisis assistance planning provide family support needs of the client and families collaborate with clients outside agencies; probation legal medical familial as needed.
  • Maintains uptodate clinical documentation as required by state and facility requirements.
  • Consults with supervisors and staff as needed/required.
  • Attends supervision on a weekly basis and in a prompt manner.
  • Attends weekly clinical staff meetings.
  • Interacts with staff and clients in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Participates in supervision and training with an openness to learning and receiving feedback.
  • Performs additional jobrelated duties and responsibilities as requested.
  • Individualized Treatment Planning and Service Delivery: Oversees all aspects of care for clients on assigned caseload including assessment treatment planning individual counseling group counseling crisis intervention family and referent contact discharge planning and coordination and all required documentation.
  • Group Facilitation: Facilitates both process and didactic style groups for clients. May be assigned to facilitate select groups for company clients as well.
  • Family Interaction: Contacts family with clinical updates (with proper consent) on agreed upon cadence.
  • Provides clinically informed communication to enhance familys understanding and support of addiction and dual diagnosis treatment progress and continuing care recommendations. Conducts family sessions where indicated. Provides referrals for families as needed to community support services and resources.
  • Coordination: Participates in staff conferences to select implement and evaluate treatment planning and progress.
  • Works across departments where needed to ensure a smooth course of care for clients.
  • Referent Communication: provides updates to referents for all clients on assigned caseload.
  • Compliance: Charts all treatments and progress in accordance with Joint Commission state and internal regulations and procedures.
  • Schedule: Requires after hours and weekend work and assigned holidays as needed for adequate client care
  • Treatment Model: Must have understanding of the medical disease model of addiction dual diagnosis treatment and the 12 step recovery process
  • Assesses clients strengths needs abilities and preferences; formulates a diagnostic impression based on current DSM criteria; performs biopsychosocial assessment; and in conjunction with the client develops a workable plan for treatment.
  • Investigates case situations and presents information to members of clinical team on clients family and social background pertinent to diagnosis and treatment.
  • Completes treatment plans discharge summaries and other chartrelated documents and correspondence for assigned clients in a timely manner.
  • Provides individual counseling and facilitate educational and counseling groups assigned and promptly chart these activities in the clients records.
  • Selects approach to use in individual therapy such as directive nondirective and supportive therapy and plans frequency intensity and duration of therapy.
  • Works cooperatively with other community resources and referral sources to coordinate services to clients.
  • Strives to increase professional growth and effectiveness through training and by keeping abreast of current trends and theories in relevant areas.
  • Provides direct behavioral health services including mental health and substance abuse services (i.e. psycho/social assessments consultation individual/group/ family therapy professional inservice training and community education services etc.) at a rate that achieves or exceeds the minimum direct service standard as established annually.
  • Provides crisis intervention services when authorized and necessary.
  • Maintains appropriate state license/registration/certification for scope of practice.
  • Carries out other responsibilities as delegated.
  • Performs utilization review as needed.
  • Completes risk assessments as needed.
