Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Northshore School District is accepting applications for the Elementary Summer Academy teachers. These positions serve as educators of Elementary Summer Academy reporting directly to the MultiTiered Systems of Support Director.

Program Description:

  • Summer program to support students reading below grade level standard.
  • The program will occur in an inperson and an online format.
  • Families will have the option to choose if their student participates in the inperson or the online program (program sizes will be determined by student enrollment choices).
  • Teachers will provide literacy math and/or STEM instruction (STEM is inperson only)
  • Teachers will collect preassessment progress monitoring and postassessment data.
  • Based on student need (and previous training completed by the teacher) Flyleaf Sonday and/or iReady instructional materials will be utilized
  • Students will be identified for eligibility in this program through midyear reading assessment data and teacher referral.
  • Priority will be given to students in 3rd grade reading below grade level standard.
  • Students from 2nd grade and then 4th grade reading below grade level will be given next priority subject to space availability.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Participating in curriculum and assessment training
  • Implementing curriculum instruction and assessment with appropriate materials
  • Promoting positive interaction among all members of the school community
  • Conferring with parents and staff about student achievement
  • Maintaining good order record keeping and discipline
  • Administering preassessments progress monitoring and postassessments
  • Writing academic intervention goals
  • Communicating with families.
  • Coplanning and collaboration with other staff (i.e. certificated and classified)
  • Reporting progress data to parents and next years teacher
  • As needed coordinate with Special Education staff

QUALIFICATIONS

  • NSEA certificated staff member currently holding a provisional or continuing contract in the Northshore School District.
  • Demonstrated successful literacy math and/or STEM teaching experience preferably supplemental/targeted intervention instruction.
  • Evidence of excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Experience engaging with students in a live online environment utilizing the Zoom platform.
  • Experience with one or more of the following curricula is preferred: including Flyleaf Sonday and/or iReady instructional materials.

LOCATION:Inperson at Canyon Creek Elemeantry School or online via Zoom.

Program size will be determined by student enrollment choices and staff will be assigned accordingly. If staff have a specific preference for online or inperson we will do our best to accommodate but we cannot guarantee an inperson or online assignment.

HOURS:8:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday.Tentative InPerson and Online Schedule

8:00 a.m. 8:30 a.m. Student Arrival/Coplanning/Family Communication

8:30 a.m. 11:30 a.m. Live Instruction with Students

11:30 a.m. 12:00 p.m. Student Dismissal/CoPlanning/Family Communication

DATES

Professional Development and Training: TBD (48 hours in June/July)

Program Preparation: June 30 July 3 (3 hours total setting up your room contacting families etc.)

Live Instruction (online or inperson): Monday July 7 to Thursday July 24.

Program Closure: July 24 (3 hours total room cleanup finish progress reports etc.)

Employees need to be available for all scheduled program days.

SALARY

Employees Per Diem or C7 rate whichever is less (Per RCW 28A.400.200)
