Job Description
Mudflap serves the $800B trucking industry the backbone of the U.S. economy. Our marketleading payment products help truckers save thousands of dollars on fuel (their #1 business expense) while providing our fuel stop partners with access to new hardtoreach customers. Were a fastgrowing marketplace business looking for a new exceptional junior engineer to join our transactions and payments team.
This can be a fully remote position. While we operate across multiple time zones most collaboration happens during Pacific Time working hours. Candidates should be able to work a schedule aligned with the PT time zone.
Expectations (In this role you will):
- Build features for our transactions and payments systems using Ruby on Rails
- Implement APIs and endpoints following established patterns and guidance
- Write clean welltested and maintainable code with attention to edge cases
- Debug and fix issues within your area of responsibility
- Collaborate in code reviews to improve your skills and learn best practices
- Document your work to support knowledge sharing
- Take ownership of small to medium features from implementation to deployment
- Learn our domainspecific knowledge in payments and transaction processing
- Be flexible and adapt to the changing needs of a startup environment
Experience (What we look for):
- 12 years of professional software development experience
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Familiarity with Ruby on Rails or similar web frameworks
- Ability to work with SQL databases including writing queries with joins and understanding indexes
- Knowledge of Git version control workflows
- Strong problemsolving skills and attention to detail
- Eagerness to learn and grow as a software engineer
- Good communication skills and team collaboration abilities
- Interest in financial technology and payment systems is a plus

The salary range for this role is $149000 $165000. This information reflects a base salary range for this position based on current market data which may be subject to change as new market data becomes available. The candidates skills experience and other relevant factors will determine the exact compensation. This position may also be eligible for additional incentives such as equity awards or shortterm incentives. Our benefits include medical/dental/vision insurance 401(k) with company match and flexible PTO.
