Job Description

Restorative Practice Room (RPR): We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate High School Teacher to oversee and support students assigned to a structured academic environment as an alternative to inschool suspension for minor infractions. This role focuses on maintaining a positive respectful atmosphere where students can reflect on their behavior while continuing to make academic progress. The teacher will supervise students during their assigned time provide academic support across subject areas liaise with classroom teachers to ensure continuity of instruction and promote personal responsibility and growth. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong classroom management skills empathy and a commitment to helping students stay engaged in their education during this step of progressive discipline.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following responsibilities are required of the position plus any other duties that may be required by the employer. Specific duties and responsibilities will be assigned by the building principal.

  • Engage students in learning manage student behavior in a positive proactive and constructive manner for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.

  • Prepare students to become productive responsible citizens through positive proactive engagement and modeling.

  • Create a flexible program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth.

  • Establish effective rapport with students seek to meet individual student needs.

  • Motivate students to develop skills attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for continuing education.

  • Establish positive relationships with students parents and other staff members.

  • Supervise students within assigned areas and as needed.

  • Deliver group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines.

  • Provide diverse learners with accommodations and modifications to ensure learning. At a minimum provide the legally required modifications and accommodations as outlined in each childs IEP 504 plan Health Care Plan or other legally mandated document.

  • Collaborate with other teachers administrators to address instructional and/or classroom issues. Obtain daily work for each student assigned to RPR.

  • Create and support a culture that empowers students.

  • Encourage a culture of inclusiveness and support for all children.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Students volunteers assistants

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: Indiana Teacher License (any content area)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

The general physical demands include: standing up to four hours climbing bending stooping and lifting up to 20 lbs as part of routine job activities within the classroom environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
