1About the position:
The Chevron ENGINE Senior Telephony Network Engineer is responsible for consulting designing and deploying networking technologies and solutions for the entire enterprise and for business partners. As a team member you will use your infrastructure experience and network knowledge to serve as subject matter expert and project consultant to improve or introduce network capabilities that drives business capabilities while protecting Chevron from external and internal threats. You will work closely with architects business partners managed service partners vendors cybersecurity cross infrastructure and digital platforms to solve difficult rapidly changing technical challenges. Where new technologies are introduced the Engineer will work closely with the Operations team to successfully transition.
The Network Engineer will work with cuttingedge technology and engage in a wide range of global projects mergers divestitures and initiatives. These experiences will allow you to gain valuable expertise in areas such as business industrial and PCN network systems automation wireless (RF) protocols and devices Azure networking and network security mechanisms. To be a successful network engineer you should be able to identify the optimal networkbased alternative for our digital platforms and implement onprem and cloud infrastructures in accordance with best practices and company security policies. You understand the connectivity details of various network technologies and solutions located on the business industrial and process control networks and their impacts on solution design. The Network Engineer should have topnotch troubleshooting skills keep up with industry trends and work well in a team.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting telephony/VOIP physical infrastructure and logical components for Chevron globally including Cisco Call Manager Microsoft Teams and the SIP call control protocol.
Develops and implements solutions and processes to maintain reliability effectiveness and efficiency.
Processes Voice Telecommunications work intake requests through programming Unified Communication systems such as Cisco Call Managers MS Teams Admin Cisco Unity UCCX Cisco CER Calabrio One Wallboards and Splunk CDR.
Evaluate and maintain Telephony systems and design. Reviewing hardware software and vulnerabilities that may impact reliability and compliance. Provide timely recommendations and remediation maintaining voice infrastructure reliability and compliance.
Collaborates with Product Owners Dev Team members Architects and BU IT Site Leads to assess Telecommunications needs related to voice and data networks.
Collaborates with external vendors on Features of high complexity including installations upgrades and maintenance of voice and data networks including SIP T1 LAN/WAN POTS and maintains a working knowledge of local intra and interstate carrier offerings.
Provides technical and administrative direction to peers by conducting training on IP Telephony Contact Center structured cabling installations upgrades and preventive maintenance.
Assists when necessary in the evaluation of vendor proposals to determine if a vendor solution meets the business need.
Communicates planned or unplanned disruption of service to business units and other IT supports in a timely manner.
Actively contribute and offer input in the automation toolset implementation process.
Participate support and guide MSPs in system patching and upgrades and help resolve escalated issues for all IPT Systems.
Required Qualifications:
Requires a bachelors or masters degree in computer science Information Technology or a related field.
Minimum of 510 years of experience network engineering and wireless communications.
English language (advanced)
Demonstrated skilled to advanced knowledge and experience in critical skills:
IP Transport Advanced services e.g. VRF
Building on this knowledge to employ a breadth of security technologies spanning multiple areas.
Knowledge and experience with telephony/VOIP physical infrastructure and logical components for Chevron globally including Cisco Call Manager Microsoft Teams and the SIP call control protocol.
Network Fundamentals and troubleshooting
Managing IP Transport across various technologies including Wireless Network LTE 4/5G Private LTE 4/5G VPN and VSAT/LEO.
Basic proficiency in scripting and automation particularly using Python.
Awareness of system and network monitoring solutions to ensure optimal performance.
Functional understanding of Azure Network services including vWAN vNet UDR and NSG to support cloud data communications.
Understanding of IP Services and advanced Network Access services including Aruba Wireless Cisco Wireless and Wired LAN.
Advanced understanding of Network Access Control through solutions such as Cisco ISE and Aruba ClearPass.
Security management utilizing Palo Alto Firewalls and Panorama.
Basic understanding of RF technologies including 2way Radio Systems PTP MPTP Cellular and Inbuilding systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1.30pm to 10.30pm.
Chevron participates in EVerify in certain locations as required by law.
