Job Description

CLASSIFICATION TITLE: Student Services Professional IA

UNION CODE: R04

TEMPORARY END DATE: This position is temporary and ends on or before June 30 2026. Any continuation beyond June 30 2026 is contingent upon satisfactory performance and available funding.

FT/PT: Fulltime

PAY PLAN: 12month

WORKPLACE TYPE: Onsite (work inperson at business location)

ANTICIPATED HIRING RANGE: Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $4150 per month.

CSU CLASSIFICATION SALARY RANGE: $4150 $5076

PAY BASIS: Monthly

POSITION PURPOSE: The Housing Navigator Assistant under direct supervision of the Director of the Center for Accessibility and Essential Needs provides trainee level support to students experiencing housing insecurity including those who are unhoused or displaced due to financial hardship unsafe living environments or unforeseen housing changes. The position assists students in navigating housing resources applying for rental assistance and connecting with campus and community services. The incumbent performs structured and procedural tasks following established guidelines to help students secure and maintain stable housing. This position plays a supportive role in the Rapid Rehousing & Housing Security Program a fouryear grant through the Chancellors Office focused on increasing housing stability.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Housing/Rental Support & Resource Connection

  1. Under direct supervision assist students with basic housing inquiries and refer them to appropriate campus and community resources.
  2. Provide guidance on applying for rental assistance programs eviction prevention services and emergency housing support following standard policies and procedures.
  3. Assist with conducting intake assessments using established criteria to determine student needs and recommend appropriate next steps in coordination with the Director.
  4. Offer general information on lease agreements tenant rights and responsibilities to support students in securing stable housing.
  5. Provide support to Housing & Residential Life to address housing instability and support students living on campus.
  6. Assist in coordinating temporary or emergency housing placements as needed including on campus housing options.
  7. Maintain communication with students receiving housing support to ensure continued stability.
  8. Refer students to campus services such as the Counseling Center Campus Advocate CARE Team and Essential Needs resources.

Outreach & Education Support

  1. Assist in the coordination and promotion of outreach events to increase awareness of housing resources and services.
  2. Support the development and delivery of educational workshops on housing stability tenant rights and financial literacy.
  3. Gather and compile student feedback from outreach events to assist with assessing program effectiveness.
  4. Work with campus partners to assist in distributing information and connect students to available support services.

Community Engagement

  1. Support efforts to establish and maintain partnerships with communitybased organizations (CBOs) to enhance housing resources for students.
  2. Assist in gathering and sharing information about local housing assistance programs and services.
  3. Attend grantrelated and housingrelated meetings as assigned to stay informed of available resources and program updates.
  4. Participate in CSU systemwide workgroup meetings to learn best practices in housing support for students.

Data Entry & Reporting Support

  1. Maintain records of student interactions and referrals in Maxient or other designated systems.
  2. Assist in tracking housing support services and compiling data for grant reporting and program assessment.
  3. Contribute to the preparation of reports on student housing outcomes and program impact.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Equivalent to graduation from a fouryear college or university in one of the behavioral sciences public or business administration or a jobrelated field and some experience in student services. Specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the appropriate knowledge and abilities may be substituted for the required education on a yearforyear basis. Equivalent amounts of graduate level job related education may be substituted for the required experience.

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES (SKAs)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: LIGHT WORK involves mainly sitting up to 25% standing or walking; lifting medium weight objects limited to 25 pounds.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

SCREENING: Only those applicants possessing experience most directly related to the immediate needs of the office will be invited to appear before a Qualifications Appraisal Board for the purpose of appraising training experience and interest in the position.

BACKGROUND CHECK: Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

MANDATED REPORTER: Limited: The person holding this position is considered a limited mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 revised July 21 2017.
