Primary Objectives
The Speech Therapist is a professional staff member responsible for speech therapy services. This job description is not an allinclusive list of the duties and responsibilities of this position. PCI Employees are expected to perform all duties and responsibilities necessary to meet the goals and objectives of applicable programs and departmental objectives as assigned.
Professional Staff of the Poarch Creek Indians will consistently demonstrate the abilities to influence innovate flex their style and problem solve along with a strong commitment to embodying the core values of the Poarch Creek Indians which include Perseverance Opportunity Accountability Respect Culture and Honesty.

Essential Functions
  • Works strategically and cooperatively in a team environment with all levels of professional technical and administrative staff.
  • Collaborates with Physical Therapy Manager and patient in ordering equipment necessary for patient safety and optimum function.
  • Identifies the need for and makes recommendations for referrals to other disciplines.
  • Develops and implements a system for reporting measuring and supporting treatment plans.
  • Maintains legal and accreditation compliance by adhering to federal state and local regulations.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in education opportunities reading professional publications maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations.
  • Coordinates patient care with other clinical team members ensuring optimal patient care and communication as noted in the clinical record.
  • Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of department/unit team inter and intradepartmentally to facilitate the departments ability to meet goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrates safe techniques in providing patient care as observed by the manager and other care providers.
  • Maintains frequency of visits as established by physicians orders or certified plan of care.
  • Implements the plan of care for speech therapy.
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate person.
Job Requirements
  • Graduate degree required.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in SpeechLanguage Pathology (CCCSLP) required.
  • Current licensure as a Speech Therapist in the State of Alabama required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Speech Therapist required.
  • Experience working with diverse patient population preferred.
  • Must maintain current professional licensure in Basic Life Support (BLS) or obtain licensure within ninety (90) days of date of hire.
  • Must possess certification of Mandatory Reporter Training or obtain certification during the first week of employment.
  • Ability to work odd and irregular hours as needed.
  • Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
  • Ability to travel and participate in required training leadership development and other events.
  • Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of this position adequately and successfully.
Core Competencies Required
  • Absolute confidentiality adhering to HIPAA guidelines and the Privacy Act.
  • Must have a working knowledge of computers and electronic health records with the ability to work in a Windows environment with various software programs such as Microsoft Office software etc.
  • Competence in the delivery of skilled speech therapy services and knowledge of the scope of practice for a speech therapist
  • Ability to maintain strenuous daily pace with overlapping schedule subject to multiple demands and interruptions
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and independently.
  • Must be in good physical condition with the ability to regularly stand; walk; use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; sit; climb or balance; stoop kneel crouch or crawl; and regularly lift and/or move at least 50 pounds.
  • Must be people oriented and relate well to people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proactively seeks opportunities to improve processes practice and policy.
  • Adapts their style to suite the situation and audience. Can read the room and act accordingly.
  • Ability to identify root causes and easily overcomes obstacles.
  • Must be people oriented relate well to people from diverse backgrounds and possess respect for others. Serve as a role model.
  • Must possess character that earns the confidence of program participants aspire to your highest self and serve as a cultural ambassador to others.
Compensation and Benefits
  • The starting pay will depend on factors such as experience level and skillset.
