Job Description

Position: Manager of Behaviour Intervention Services

Location: Prince George BC

Hours: Fulltime 30 hours/week

Salary: $34.51/hour

Start Date: ASAP


We are looking for someone who is interested in working as a Manager of Behaviour Intervention Services to join our Sources BASIC Program and Independent Living Skills Program! The Manager of Behaviour Intervention Services oversees specific aspects of the BASIC program and Independent Living Skills Program in conjunction with the Director of Sources North. Staff provide direct onetoone teaching to youth in their home and community; to help the youth learn the skills they need to increase their independence and assist them in transition into adulthood. The Manager of Behaviour Intervention Services will work as a part of an interdisciplinary team consisting of a Behavioural Consultant and BoardCertified Behaviour Analyst. This individual must possess strong interpersonal skills; work well in a collaborative team environment while possessing excellent communication skills.

About Sources Independent Living Skills Program & BASIC Program:

The Programs provides youth in Prince George life skills transition support and navigation. The Services are based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis. The Programs are designed to cover a wide range of services to assist individuals with strengthening and further developing identified areas within independent life skills life transitions and navigating through areas of life their community social situations a youth may require assistance with. The Youth Care Worker and Behaviour Interventionist staff provide oneonone intervention. This service is provided by qualified and highly trained Youth Care Workers and Behaviour Interventionists directly supervised by Board Certified Behaviour Analysts. The focus person will work with a Youth Care Worker or Behaviour Interventionist who is specifically trained to implement an individualized intervention plan to teach new communication skills functional skills life skills or address any skill deficits that the focus person may have. The Youth Care Worker or Behaviour Interventionist will also be responsible for taking data to monitor and ensure effective skill development. These oneonone services can take place in our Centre in the community or in the focus persons home. One on one intervention provided through the Life Skills program and the BASIC Program is evidence based best practice in the field of Applied Behaviour Analysis.


Description of Position:

Reporting to: Director of Sources North

Responsibilities:

  • Planning developing implementing and evaluating the overall quality of service delivery of the program.
  • Providing orientation training work direction and guidance to Youth Care Workers and Behaviour Interventionists both during onboarding and throughout.
  • Engage in performance management and coaching.
  • Ensuring that clients physical emotional social educational and medical needs are being met and directly assists clients in enhancing quality of life and personal life goals.
  • Ensure that all OH&S Policy and Procedures Accreditation regulations and all other relevant governing obligations are being adhered to by the program and staff team.
  • Reporting on program outcomes annually and actively participating and leading in progressive quality improvement initiatives.
  • Monitoring and adhering to the financial budget within the program.
  • Oversee the continual improvement of staff team through ongoing professional development and education.
  • Maintaining a safe work environment for both staff and service users alike including following and monitoring all positive behavior support strategies as they apply to clients in service. This includes being confident and familiar with NonViolent Crisis Intervention material to guide and teach staff effectively in adhering to concepts taught.
  • Liaise and maintain professional relationships with parents clients community partners and various other program stakeholders.
  • Keep organized detailed and confidential records on a database system using clear professional and objective language.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum bachelors level of postsecondary education (preferably in social sciences)
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience in the Positive Behaviour Support Sector
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Confidence and competence with being in a leadership role including directing others and holding others accountable regarding performance and professional conduct
  • Strong working knowledge of positive behavior support strategies as well as general knowledge of oneonone services for Children & Youth
  • High competence level in clear and concise verbal and written communication including an excellent skillset in writing and editing reports as well as general communications to various stakeholders including families funders and community partners
  • High proficiency level in using Microsoft Office applications and technology applications in general
  • Willingness to gain additional knowledge and education is an asset
  • Effectively communicate professionally verbally and written in English
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training
  • A clear Criminal Record Check
  • Valid Class 5 BC Drivers License and clean drivers abstract
