Senior Software Engineer, Last Mile Delivery Automation

We are seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer to help build the future of autonomous delivery at Amazon. In this role you will contribute to the technical development of our autonomous vehicle program implementing solutions that will transform lastmile delivery across our global network.

You will play an important role in developing technology that will transform the future of delivery working on challenging problems at unprecedented scale. Your work will contribute to the development of autonomous systems that will operate across diverse environments delivering millions of packages daily while maintaining the highest safety standards.

Key job responsibilities
Implement and develop autonomous vehicle systems components including perception planning controls and vehicle integration
Contribute to technical decisions across teams balancing innovation with practical implementation
Develop integration solutions for autonomous driving software with purposebuilt delivery vehicles
Implement and maintain standards for safetycritical autonomous systems
Evaluate technology options and provide input on build vs. buy decisions for key components
Collaborate with team members and contribute to a strong engineering culture
Work with external partners including OEMs sensor providers and technology companies
Support development of autonomous vehicle systems while adhering to industry standards and regulatory frameworks

About the team
The Last Mile Delivery Automation organization at Amazon is pioneering the development of autonomous delivery solutions to revolutionize the final leg of package delivery. LMDA combines robotics autonomous systems and artificial intelligence to create safe and efficient delivery solutions that will transform how packages reach customers. Currently in early development stages our charter encompasses the complete autonomous delivery ecosystem from fullsize delivery vans to last hundred yards robots with plans to begin initial pilots by late 2025.

Within LMDA the Vehicle Integration team serves as the crucial bridge between autonomous software systems and physical vehicle platforms. We are responsible for creating the foundational architecture that enables autonomous software to seamlessly control and monitor vehicle operations. Our team designs and implements the critical interfaces between perception planning and control systems with the vehicles drivebywire capabilities sensor suite and computing infrastructure. Working closely with both autonomy software teams and vehicle manufacturers we ensure that all systems work together reliably and safely. The team is currently focused on developing the integration architecture for our first autonomous delivery vehicle prototype establishing the standards and frameworks that will eventually scale across our entire autonomous fleet.



5 years of noninternship professional software development experience
5 years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
5 years of leading design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience as a mentor tech lead or leading an engineering team

5 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
