Overview
The RN in the Neurology Clinic works alongside providers to help provide education and treatment for numerous diagnoses including but not limited to seizures epilepsy movement disorders tics and tourette syndrome headaches concussions and kernicter.
Registered nurses provide illness management and health promotion for patients and families who require care. Registered staff nurses utilize the nursing process and knowledge of scientific principles to provide safe high quality comprehensive and age
Our neurology team has more than 100 staff members including pediatric doctors nurses imaging specialists and others who are experts in the developing brains and nervous systems of children.
All of our physicians are boardcertified in neurology meaning they have passed rigorous additional qualifications in this area of study. Many also have advanced expertise in a specific area of neurology such as epilepsy or movement disorders. We are part of care teams for newborns in theNeonatal Intensive Care Unit(NICU) who need neurological care.
Childrens Mercy has three of the very few doctors in the nation to be triple board certified in pediatric neurology epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology.

Neurology services include:
Brain imaging
Evaluation of antiepileptic drug efficacy and adversity
Vagal nerve stimulator implantation
Inpatient epilepsy monitoring unit
Epilepsy surgery
Outpatient epilepsy clinic
Neurophysiologic testing: Brain StemAudio Evoked Response (BSAER)
Electroencephalogram
Evoked potentials
Intraoperative electrophysiological monitoring
Somatosensory responses
VideoEEG monitoring

- Utilizes the nursing process to develop and implement a safe high quality comprehensive and ageappropriate plan of care for the patient and family that promotes optimal patient outcomes.
- Meets the educational needs of the patient and family and advocates for their needs.
- Maintains an environment that is safe comfortable efficient and familycentered.
- Utilizes current research and evidence for practice to expand personal professional knowledge enhance role performance and improve nursing care quality.
Qualifications
- Associates Degree
- Current employees hired before September 1 2013 are grandfathered and permitted to continue in the direct care nursing role.
- Direct care nurses hired after this date without a BSN must complete their degree within 5 years of their hire date
- Bachelors Degree
- Preferred for all direct care nurses hired after September 1 2013.
- One of the following: Licensed RN Kansas Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire
- One of the following: Licensed RN MO Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire
- RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO
- Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire
- Specialty Certification relevant to units patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director) Preferred Upon Hire

Starting Pay
Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $30.50/hr but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.
Remote Work/Work from Home
This position is not eligible to work remotely which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Childrens Mercy locations and may not work from home.
