Level 1 Incident Response Analyst
The MSU Information Security team aims to achieve university success through precision Information Security focused on risk management engagement and education.
As Reporting directly to the Incident Response Supervisor this role frequently interfaces with customers (the MSU staff) and focuses on the triage of incoming tickets and requests. IT knowledge will be key in assisting customers with security concerns or requests as well as processing eDiscovery requests from the Legal and FOIA offices. Where appropriate tickets will be handled by the analyst else higher level tickets will be escalated to higher level analysts. To address minor security incidents the Level 1 will pair with higher level Analysts as needed. Major incidents are handled as a team. Level 1s are included in planning sessions and team discussion for exposure and insight. This is a growth role that will challenge but in the end expand the skills of its occupants. Once properly trained this role will participate in the weekly IR oncall rotation.

Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a fouryear college degree program in Computer Science Information Systems Business or related information technology field with coursework in an information technology specialization related to the area of employment; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in an information technology area related to the duties to be performed; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Has significant knowledge and experience in the field of information technology or System Administration as well as Active Directory and ticket management software. Possesses conceptual familiarity with Security concepts Identity and Access Control mechanisms EDR and MDR platforms and log collection/investigation. Customer service skills and the ability to coordinate comfortably as a part of a team are easily recognized.
