Engineering Manager Infrastructure Automation (Hardware)
Does the idea of turning thousands of blank poweredoff servers into fully configured productionready machines with a single deterministic pipeline sound like your kind of challenge Were looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Infrastructure Automation teamowning everything from cold silicon poweron to Chef convergence at fleet scale. Youll shape the vision mentor a team of sharp developers and build the tooling APIs and observability that make site bringup as effortless and repeatable as a git push unlocking rapid deployments at scale.
What Youll Do:
- Own the technical roadmap for deterministic endtoend provisioning automation across all existing and new hardware platforms
- Build and mentor a highperforming team of software and infrastructure engineers fostering a culture of reliability observability and rapid iteration
- Deliver and operate scalable tooling APIs and dashboards that make bulk site bringups selfservice idempotent and fully traceable
- Collaborate crossfunctionally with Operations (DC & Net) Hardware and Security to align firmware OS and configmanagement workflows with fleetwide SLAs; also while iterating POP design and assisting with new hardware selection
- Own success metrics (e.g. firstpass yield & errorrecovery time) and drive continuous improvement through datadriven retrospectives and roadmap updates
What Were Looking For:
- 8 years handson systems or infrastructure engineering (Go Python Rust or similar) building automation for baremetal provisioning OS imaging and configuration management at fleet scale.
- Deep expertise in boot & hardware pipelinesPXE/UEFI HTTP BMC / Redfish secure boot firmware flashing and tools like Chef or Ansible.
- Proven technical leadership of teams or missioncritical projects (mentoring driving design reviews owning roadmaps) even without a formal manager title.
- Strong crossfunctional collaboration and communication skills translating fleet KPIs into clear priorities for key stakeholders.
Well be super impressed if you have experience in any of these:
- Hands on experience engineering UEFI / USB bootshims that stream a Live OS over an outofband channel (Redfish virtual media HTTPBoot iPXE) to provide zerotouch diagnostics patching or full reimage; turning fleetwide emergency recovery into a single pipeline run.
Work Hours:
- This position will require you to be available during core business hours in the Eastern Time Zone. You will also be oncall during evenings and weekends as an escalation point in team oncall rotation.

Fastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home.
There is a strong preference for Hybrid near the New York NY office. We are not considering remote candidates at this time.
This position may require travel as required by your role or requested by your manager.

Salary:
The estimated salary range for this position is $195750 to $234864.
Starting salary may vary based on permissible nondiscriminatory factors such as experience skills qualifications and location.
This role may be eligible to participate in Fastlys equity and discretionary bonus programs.
