About the Role
We are seeking an accomplished Staff Engineer to lead the architecture development and scaling of Gateway Services focused on interoperability across EMRs/EHRs CMS compliance and highthroughput data processing and streaming. You will play a pivotal role in designing secure reliable and compliant systems that enable seamless health data exchange support regulatory requirements and power advanced analytics at scale
A Day in the Life
- Design build and optimize gateway services that enable secure standardsbased interoperability between disparate EMR/EHR systems clinical applications and external partners.
- Implement and advocate for healthcare data exchange standards such as HL7 FHIR CCD and IHE frameworks to ensure robust and scalable information flow across systems.
- Architect solutions that meet CMS interoperability mandates and other regulatory requirements ensuring data privacy auditability and traceability.
- Develop and maintain highthroughput lowlatency data streaming and processing pipelines to support realtime and batch analytics for clinical and operational use cases.
- Ensure endtoend security of data in motion and at rest implementing strong authentication authorization and encryption protocols.
- Drive reliability scalability and observability across gateway and data processing services including monitoring alerting and automated recovery.
- Provide handson technical leadership mentor engineers conduct design/code reviews and set engineering best practices.
- Partner with product compliance and clinical informatics teams to translate business and regulatory requirements into technical solutions.
What You Need
- 8 years of experience in backend infrastructure or data engineering with a focus on distributed systems cloud platforms and healthcare interoperability.
- Proven expertise in designing and operating gateway or API infrastructure for highscale regulated environments.
- Good handson experience with interoperability standards (HL7 FHIR CCD) EMR/EHR integration and healthcare data exchange protocols.
- Good understanding of security standards (TLS OAuth SAML) rolebased access and compliance frameworks (CMS HIPAA).
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS Azure) containerization (Kubernetes Docker) and data streaming technologies (Kafka gRPC service mesh).
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and mentor engineering teams.
- Excellent problemsolving communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python or Go.
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field.
