Good Neighbours Canada



Good Neighbours is an international humanitarian development nongovernmental organization (NGO) founded in South Korea in 1991. After five years we obtained consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC). Good Neighbours Canada launched in March 2017 in London Ontario and moved to Scarborough GTA in 2022. Under Good Neighbors international governance we focus on fundraising refugee and newcomer settlement programs and global development campaigns to support field projects.



Digital Communications Assistant



The Digital Communications Assistant will support the promotion of Good Neighbours Canadas programs through creative and strategic digital content. This role involves social media management content creation research and media organization to enhance our online presence and effectively communicate the impact of our community support initiatives. This position offers an opportunity to develop innovative communication strategies and contribute to amplifying our mission of supporting equitydeserving communities.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating engaging social media content to promote our community support programs particularly the income generation support program for newcomers and refugees.
  • Conceptualize seasonal promotion ideas and themes for the income generation programs online communications aligning with broader campaign goals.
  • Conduct research on competitors online communication strategies and provide recommendations to broaden our reach and enhance Good Neighbours Canadas digital presence.
  • Assist in updating blog posts to our recently updated website template enabling storytelling of past projects to demonstrate community impact.
  • Management of media files to support the creation of a streamlined easily searchable database of content.
  • Work with program participants to gather their testimonials to create compelling social media posts highlighting the impact of Good Neighbours Canadas community support initiatives.
  • Other activities as assigned.


Qualifications

  • This position is funded by the Canada Summer Jobs scheme. Due to funder requirements applicants must be between 1830 years old and hold Canadian citizenship or Permanent Residency.
  • (Working towards) a degree or diploma in communications marketing digital media international development or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a talent for storytelling and engaging online audiences.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms (e.g. Instagram Facebook LinkedIn) and familiarity with social media management tools.
  • Creative thinking and an eye for design with experience in graphic design tools (e.g. Canva Adobe Spark).
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail for tasks such as media file management and blog migration.
  • Research skills to conduct competitor analysis and derive actionable insights.
  • Understanding of and passion for communitybased development and support for equitydeserving populations.


Duration: 8week internship.
Hours: 35 per week typically Monday Friday 9 am 4 pm. Occasional weekends may be required for events.
Location: Hybrid working arrangement with a minimum of 3 days per week inoffice.
Compensation: $18 per hour.
