Health and Wellness Specialist

Compensation/Benefits:
- $2425 per hour depending on experience
- Fulltime 40 hours

Supervisory Responsibilities:
- No supervisory responsibilities
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintain & create positive relationships through mutual respect and understanding with unhoused neighbors and provide support for their wellbeing
- Provide outreach and support to individuals at Cultivate Initiatives main office & other program locations including shower sites
- Educate community members on OHP & other health insurances benefits eligibility enrollment and more to support individuals in receiving maintaining and using benefits
- Possess a good understanding of and continue to learn about resources that unhoused individuals can access and benefit from to educate others on these resources
- Work well within a team & collaborative environment and lead other staff members or volunteers during outreach activities
- Meet regularly with the Employment Services Program Manager to ensure proper completion of job duties
- Follow safety policies procedures and community guidelines
- Assist with administrative aspects of the program including but not limited to forms reports reimbursements and reporting data for collection and tracking systems for the program
- Collaborate with and work alongside other outreach workers housing health and other Cultivate Initiatives staff
- Assist with coverage of the front desk when Hub Host is on break or out of the office
- Represent Cultivate Initiatives to various partners and community members
- Participate in meetings and trainings within the organization
- May perform other duties as requested by supervisor
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of community resources int he Portland and greater Portland area
- Knowledge of ODHS benefits including SNAP OHP and SSI
- Deescalation and mental health first aid
- Previous experience working with the unhoused population
- Strong computer skills and ability to navigate the web
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain professional boundaries
Work Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Work is performed indoors and outdoors in all types of weather.
- Ability to work in environments with varying noise levels from quiet offices to louder industrial settings.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Work requires the ability to perform repetitive movements of the wrist hands or fingers due to continuous use of computer keyboards and other office equipment.
- Work requires the ability to remain calm under pressure
- This position may need to travel with teams to onsite locations occasionally
- Being physically present in the CI offices from 8:30am 4:30pm Monday Friday
- Must be able to provide proof of COVID19 vaccination or religious exemption
- Must be able to provide proof of Drivers License
