Philanthropy Operations Assistant

As the leading nonprofit nonpartisan philanthropic partner of the National Park Service Trust for the National Mall brings expertise private funding and inkind support to timesensitive restoration and sustainability projects mobilizes volunteers and provides educational opportunities to ensure that the National Mall endures and evolves as a vibrant space for all. With over 36 million visits annually to the National Mall combined with aging infrastructure and the need for better visitor amenities throughout the park the Trust is helping the National Park Service tackle the more than $800 million needed for critical repairs and improvements.

Brief Position Summary
The Philanthropy Operations Assistant supports the daytoday fundraising activities of the Philanthropy team. This oneyear parttime position / internship provides exposure to all aspects of the Trusts fundraising operations including research and prospecting donor management software membership and annual giving special events and stewardship.
The Philanthropy Operations Assistant must manage their work efficiently and be willing to learn new practices and procedures. The person in this role must be comfortable working within a fastpaced collaborative environment. A flexible mindset sense of urgency ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and willingness to pitch in are highly valued.
This role is in a temporary parttime or internship capacity (20 hours per week) for a period of one year until the end of May 2025.
Starting Rate is $20/hour. Position includes prorated paid time off in accordance with the Trusts leave policy.
Responsibilities
Research and Prospecting (20%)
- Conduct research on individual corporate and foundation donors and prospects using various sources and tools.
- Verify and analyze biographical financial and philanthropic information.
- Draft written profiles and qualified lists to support fundraising efforts.
Data Management (20%)
- Assist with data entry in Salesforce ensuring all data entered is accurate.
- Perform routine and ad hoc projects to update and/or standardize data.
- Contribute to ongoing process improvement efforts that leverage our data and systems to improve information and services.
Special Events (20%)
- Support event planning and logistics including RVSP tracking and drafting event bios for attendees.
- Provide onsite support at events including setup registration and guest assistance.
Stewardship and Engagement (20%)
- Assist in preparing routine donor correspondence and personalized donor appreciation materials.
- Support donor recognition and other special project planning and execution
General Support (20%)
- Actively participate in building organizational and team culture aligned with the Trusts values
- Model collaboration and teamwork by performing other duties as assigned and/or approved.
Key Skills
- Proficiency with office productivity tools is with an emphasis on Outlook SharePoint Teams Word Excel and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM platform is highly beneficial.
- Strong project management skills are necessary to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and familiarity with Asana or similar project tracking tools is highly beneficial.
- Familiarity with fundraising and donor engagement best practices is helpful but not .
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fastpaced team environment and to form effective working partnerships with colleagues.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills including versatile writing skills.

Education
- Bachelors degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is ; graduate degree or current enrollment in a postsecondary education program is preferred; the appropriate level of education may vary depending on the extent and relevancy of professional experience.
Experience
- At least 1 year of relevant professional experience
- Some prior experience in a nonprofit fundraising environment preferably within fundraising operations.
