Job Description

Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager Occupational Health Safety and Security the key function of this role will be to develop support coordinate and monitor the implementation and ongoing functioning of an Emergency Preparedness Plan including education training and associated activities across the organization to ensure optimization that fosters a culture of safety and emergency preparedness best practices. The successful candidate will lead inservice training for hospital employees in Emergency Response principals as well as work with external Emergency Services on the planning of largescale Emergency Preparedness exercises.

Required

Demonstrated experience with Emergency Preparedness preferably in a health care setting.
Experience leading simulationbased training scenarios preferably in a health care setting.
Sound knowledge of emergency response codes in a hospital setting.
Certification in the Incident Management System (IMS) for emergency preparedness an asset.
Postsecondary education in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent planning analytical and organizational skills.
Ability to meet deadlines and manage tasks accordingly.
Project management experience is an asset.
Evidence of effective organizational interpersonal leadership judgment critical thinking and decisionmaking skills.
Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Flexible selfdirected and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated ability in delivering training programs.
Demonstrated knowledge of the Ontario Fire Code.
Demonstrated commitment to professional development.
Demonstrated ability to promote and manage change.
Ability to travel between facilities.

Duties

Supports coordinates and monitors the implementation and ongoing functioning of an Emergency Preparedness Plan education training and associated activities across the organization.
Designs leads or works in coordination with the Manager Occupational Health Safety and Security on the development and evaluation of corporatewide emergency preparedness education and training using multiple modalities (e.g. simulations tabletop exercises etc.).
Coordinates and conducts education and training related to Emergency Preparedness and Hospital Fire Plan.
Reviews and updates Hospital Emergency Preparedness Plans in coordination with key Stakeholders.
Collaborates with other members of the Occupational Health Safety and Security team to facilitate Risk Assessment reviews and create department safe work plans with particular focus on Emergency Response and Risk Reduction.
Other duties as assigned.
