The General Adult Psychiatry and Health Systems Division at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is focused on improving the quality of care and access to appropriate care within the mental health and addictions system. We are seeking a fulltime 12month contract Research Lab Manager. This position will report to the Research Operations Manager Clinical Research and will work closely with the Scientist and Research Manager. The position will encompass planning coordinating and overseeing the research operations to ensure efficiency of the PIs lab operations. In collaboration with the scientist staff fellows and trainees they will manage and oversee a variety of clinical trials focused on mood and anxiety disorders.
The Research Lab Manager will work cooperatively with other departments to meet and maintain institutional standards and departmental requirements including Biosafety Contract Development Research Ethics Board Finance Legal Human Resources Information Technology and Support Services.
The Research Lab Manager will assist the PI in building and developing a productive scientific team fully engaged in clinical research including the recruitment training mentoring and supervision of staff and students from a wide range of disciplines. They will support team members with clinical studies. They will be responsible for overseeing all projects within the research lab and ensure the integrity and safety of the research being conducted. They will provide effective oversight of PIs finances and oversee the pre/post award requirements. They will support a workplace that embraces diversity encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements.You will be responsible for the PIs project compliance with all institutional and Researchspecific policies and procedures external standards guiding the conduct of research and use of grant funding.
This position is located at 100 Stokes Street / 250 College Street.
The candidate will possess a Bachelors degree in Health Science and at leasttwo years experience in a clinical research setting or the equivalent education and experience. Three years experience with demonstrated increasing leadership responsibility is preferred. Experience in mood disorder research and clinical trials are required.
The position requires strong leadership management interpersonal skills critical ability flexibility and initiative. Candidates will possess the ability for selfdirected working as well as collaboration and teamwork. Demonstrated ability to plan organize coordinate and supervise varied complex scientific projects is required. Highly developed problem solving and negotiation skills are required to critically analyze evaluate and resolve issues or problems related to research activities often involving diverse stakeholders. Previous experience in training and mentoring research staff is advantageous.
Knowledge and experience in quantitative and qualitative research methodology is preferred. Previous experience with manuscript preparation and research grant proposals including the ability to explain complex issues in plain language both verbally and in writing is preferred. Proficiency with computer programs including MS Office Excel Endnote REDCap and statistical software is required.
