Job Description
Professional Indemnity Development Underwriter Birmingham
As a leading UK PI Insurer we have a wide appetite for professional risk and have had a consistent market presence over nearly 20 years of PI operations. Capabilities span the micro and SME sectors but with the additional ability to provide tailored solutions for larger professional businesses. We have developed a very strong regional presence and now have a team of underwriters in Bristol Manchester and Birmingham writing professional firms from Tech Marketing Media and Film Production through to the Construction and Property professions and across the hundreds of miscellaneous firms offering design management and consultancy services.
Key Responsibilities:
Underwriting
- Provide PI underwriting service to brokers on all professions underwritten with TMHCC appetite.
- Underwriting of risks within authority and referral of risks outside of authority to senior members of the underwriting team.
- Management of broker enquiries new and renewal
- Attending in house / external PI technical training sessions and actively maintaining own training record
Monitoring of Local Broker Accounts Performance including;
- Enquiry numbers / hit rates.
- Monitor renewal retention rates
- Monitor broker performance
- Monitor scheme performance e.g. RTPI
- Monitor claims and loss ratios of broker accounts
Broker Development Professional Risks Midlands
- Planning broker visits / meetings and providing analysis of broker accounts
- Managing the population of meeting notes on Eclipse IMM and CRM
- Organisation and delivery of corporate entertainment in conjunction with Underwriting Managers
- Planning and continued roll out of TMHCC online in the Midlands region
- Broker development to be carried out as part of wider business plan and in coordination with the Business Development Manager (BDM)
Performance Objectives
Understanding of underwriting appetite. Broker development fully planned for post probation period Full understanding of PUA (personal underwriting authority)
Skills and Experience Specification:
Essential:
- High level of technical PI underwriting knowledge
- Min 3 A levels at Grade C or above (or equivalent)
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to underpin broker development and relationship building.
- IT literate experienced in main Microsoft packages.
- Strong negotiation skills
- Excellent organisation skills
Desirable:
- Relevant insurance qualification
