Job Description
Title:Research Scientist I Tumor Immunology and Lab Operations (Carbone Lab)
Description: Were looking for a Research Scientist I to join our team and help advance our understanding of the tumor immune microenvironment focusing on dendritic cells(DCs) and their role in cancer immunotherapy. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to highimpact research using innovative tools like the STAMP model(Skin Tumor Array by Microporation) which enables noninvasive highthroughput monitoring of immune cell recruitment and interactions in tumors (PMID:).
In this role you will play a central part in ensuring the smooth daily operations of our new and growing lab while collaborating closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) on groundbreaking research aimed at advancing the future of cancer immunotherapy. This position offers significant opportunities for professional growth including mentoring new lab members and helping build a strong lab culture.
Job Responsibilities
- 35% Lab Management: Oversee daytoday operations including organization supply management equipment maintenance and regulatory compliance to ensure a wellfunctioning laboratory.
- 35% Animal Colony Management: Manage a midsized mouse colony including breeding genotyping and working with onsite veterinary personnel.
- 30% Experimental Research: Assist in the design planning and execution of experiments focused on tumor immunology and immune cell regulation within the tumor microenvironment.
Other Responsibilities
- Data Handling:Contribute to data collection analysis and interpretation. Maintain accurate and detailed experimental records and assist in preparing grants reports presentations and manuscripts for publication.
- Scientific Contribution: Actively participate in lab meetings provide insights during research discussions and contribute ideas for new projects.
- Lab Support:Be helpful and step in wherever needed identify and address issues before they impede research.
Experimental methods
- Flow cytometry
- Cell culture
- Tissue harvest and processing
- Advanced Microscopy for live imaging of tumorimmune interactions
- Mouse handling including in vivo techniques and tumor models
- Managing mouse colony and maintaining mouse census
- Cell engineering and plasmid design
- Computational image analysis (Python ImageJ or similar tools for image and data analysis)
Technical Expertise:
- Proficiency in key experimental techniques such as flow cytometry advanced microscopy cell culture and/or cell engineering.
- Handson experience in tissue processing and immune cell characterization through flow cytometry and in vitro immunoassays.
- Familiarity with preclinical tumor models is highly desirable.
Computational Skills:
- Experience with data analysis tools (e.g. FlowJo ImageJ) and basic coding skills (Python or similar programming languages).
Immunology & Cancer Biology:
- Strong background in tumor immunology cancer biology or related fields with a solid understanding of relevant scientific literature.
Bachelors Degree in biology microbiology immunology molecular biology or experience in a laboratory setting.

Research experience in biochemistry molecular biology and tissue culture techniques is highly preferred.
Compensation Range
$25.85 $38.78 per hourSalary Information
This compensation range was calculated based on fulltime employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity skills experience and expertise and may vary within the range provided.
