Reporting to the HVAC Supervisor this position is located at a multi-custody male correctional facility and works in the Maintenance Department. This position may work with and have frequent contact with close custody and minimum custody offenders. This positions job responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
  1. Providing journey level work in the areas of Heating/Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC).
  2. Designing installing servicing and repairing HVAC energy control management systems in renovations and construction.
  3. Assisting in installing electrical conduit and wiring for HVAC electricals circuits.
  4. Performing preventive maintenance.
  5. Instructing lower level assistants and offenders in performing less technical repairs.
  6. Providing technical guidance and supporting to other staff members in HVAC energy control management system.
  7. Working by instruction from supervisor by policies the NC building code manuals OSHA regulations and safety policies.
  8. Requiring great physical effort in the installation repair and removal of HVAC systems.
  9. Performing repairs on equipment outside his/her specialty trade as needed and must be diversified and have general knowledge of several trades.



Knowledge Skills and Abilities / Competencies



  1. Documented working experience in the field of Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning.

The Division of Institutionsis one of the divisions in DAC andemploys a variety of staff operates 56 institutions and is responsible for the care and custody of approximately 30000 incarcerated individuals across North Carolina. Our division categorizes the institutions into 3 custody levels which include minimum medium and close. The Division of Institutions has a duty to provide a secure and safe environment along with the proper care and supervision for every individual in our custody.
