Job Description

This position is for the full academic year open only to enrolled upperclassmen.


Expected hours of work per week: 10

Work Location & Hours: OnCampus Lucas Art Workshop ; hours can be set between 8:30am4:30pm with one evening of tutoring

Qualifications for Position:

  • Current Covenant College student at least junior standing has taken ART 270
  • Can work 1012 hours per week
  • Reliable willing to learn punctual
  • Motivated problemsolving ability to work unsupervised
  • Has a personal laptop or tablet to use for work
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Word Excel and PowerPoint Google Office and Canvas
  • Can use Canvas Google Suite and Instagram; Canva/Adobe Suite preferred
  • Able to handle sensitive information concerning fellow students

Responsibilities:

  • Performs administrative and research tasks to support the teaching and development of the art history concentration.
  • Serve as Assistant to the professor for art history courses
    • Objective grading
    • Updating assignments
    • Preparing course handouts
    • Tutoring for writing assignments and test preparation
    • Compiling bibliographies for future courses
    • Hold regular tutoring hours to assist students in introductory to art history courses
  • Serve as a research assistant
    • Find and procure resources
    • Format Chicago Manual of Style footnotes and bibliographic entries
    • Some copyediting
  • Assists with the installation of gallery exhibitions and gallery openings.
  • Performs basic social marketing and communication tasks on behalf of the Art Department

Resume skills development (NACE Competencies required by employers) to be developed

  • Career & SelfDevelopment including experience in teaching academic research social media marketing and copy editing.
  • Communication in the form of helping fellow students navigate writing assignments and research.
  • Critical Thinking in the form of evaluating and ordering routine and pressing tasks.
  • Global Literacy displayed by locating and assessing additional resources on global art history for the library collection.
  • Leadership through anticipating departmental needs and showing initiative in meeting them.
  • Professionalism by creating appropriate content for department social media.
  • Teamwork including occasionally working with other department work study for exhibition installation marketing designs and running department events.
  • Technology skills by creating and posting appropriate relevant content for department social media.
