Job Description
Material Handler (2nd Shift)
Receives stores and distributes material tools equipment and products within establishments by performing the following duties.
Essential Functions
- Conveys materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas
- Sorts and places materials or items on racks shelves or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size type style color product code or customer.
- Fills requisitions work orders or requests for materials tools or other stock items and distributes items to production workers or assembly line.
- Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves or conveys orders to packing station or shipping department.
- Wraps skids of cartons and roll stock in preparation for shipment
- Marks materials with identifying information
- Record amount of materials or items received or distributed.
- Weighs or counts items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards.
- Uses WMS system to enter or locate items needed for delivery to other departments or to customers.
- Drives forklift to transport stored items from warehouse to plant or to pick up items from several locations for shipment.
- Performs inspection for all trucks prior to loading product.
- Prepares parcels for mailing.
- Unload material from inbound truck
- Responsible for maintaining labeling and handling of hazardous waste.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner so that you get along with clients customers vendors coworkers and supervisors.
- Perform any and all other duties as assigned by the manager and/or designee
Required Work Experience and Skills
- 1 to 2 years experience required
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to add and subtract twodigit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement volume and distance.
- RF Scanner experience a plus.
- Forklift experience required; stand up forklift experience a plus.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain a positive work environment by behaving and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers vendors coworkers and supervisors.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
- A drive to succeed with a selfstarter approach and a cando attitude
Education
Less than high school education; or up to onemonth related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must hold a valid Illinois drivers license.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger handle or feel; and reach with hands and employee frequently is required to walk; climb or balance; stoop kneel crouch or crawl; and talk or employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 75 vision abilities required by this job include close vision color vision and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical employee is frequently exposed to high precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
