Job Description

The Hun School of Princeton seeks a dynamic and creative Summer School SAT/ACT Mathematics & Science Teacher.


The Hun School of Princeton creates an atmosphere that fosters active student participation in the learning process. Students are encouraged to think creatively while constructing ideas and solving problems. Incorporating the latest technology students become critical thinkers and collaborate in small and large groups as they learn to think logically and critically.


Responsibilities:

  • Teaching six weeks during the summer one period two hours per day for each of two threeweek sessions;
  • Evaluate summer school courses and curriculum recommending changes;
  • Build a healthy learning environment and classroom dynamic;
  • Be mindful of the needs of all students enrolled in the program and carefully monitor those who show weaknesses and recommend alternative classes for struggling students early in the session.

Administrative:

  • Draft progress reports to parents during the six weeks and complete the process of reporting grades to parents and schools where appropriate;
  • Respond in an appropriate and timely way to the needs of the daytoday operation of the School as they pertain to the students teachers and parents.

Miscellaneous:

  • Must be available from Sunday June 22 2025 through Friday August 1 2025 on campus for teaching extra help for students consultations with parents and faculty meetings.
  • There will be no classes on Friday July 4th;
  • Hours are 7:45 am to 12:20 pm Monday Friday;
  • Orientation will be held in the morning on Sunday June 22 2025;
  • Must have knowledge flexibility and ability to fill in and cover any additional applicable duties as needed;
  • Work with the Summer Academic Director on issues of curriculum design classroom management and best practices in order to align teaching with the Vision Statement of the Hun Summer School;
  • Must perform tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job which may be altered or redesigned as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelors degree; advanced degree preferred;
  • Three years of teaching experience is preferred but other relevant experience will certainly be considered;
  • Teacher certification is not required;
  • Knowledge of K12 Mathematics & Science standards and frameworks;
  • Ability and versatility to teach a range of courses in the discipline;
  • A love for working with young people;
  • A commitment to a diverse and inclusive community;
  • A passion for teaching in an innovative experiential and studentcentered environment;
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with students parents faculty and staff;
  • Personal qualities including resilience approachability and kindness;
  • Excellent technology skills and experience integrating technology into the curriculum;
  • A desire to contribute to school life outside of the classroom on a lively school campus.
