The Quality Technician II plays a critical role in ensuring that products and processes consistently meet internal and external quality standards. This midlevel position requires a deeper level of expertise and handson experience in quality assurance and control procedures than the entrylevel Quality Technician I role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform inspections of output samples using appropriate industry tools and methodologies.
Verify that production and assembly operations adhere to established procedures standards and legal regulations.
Review blueprints and technical specifications to ensure product conformity.
Document inspection results including rework and waste summaries in the quality database.
Train production staff on quality control procedures to enhance product integrity.
Recommend process improvements to increase quality and efficiency.
Monitor equipment usage and ensure only compliant calibrated tools are used.
Interpret engineering drawings blueprints and radiographs for quality evaluation.
Conduct quality testing throughout various manufacturing stages.
Collect and analyze statistical quality data for reporting and decisionmaking.
Assist in developing test methods and inspection procedures.
Investigate root causes of defects and production scrap.
Ensure equipment calibration is accurate and up to date.
Execute quality control tasks in accordance with Work Instructions (WIs) for raw materials semifinished and finished goods.
Recommend updates to WIs to reduce waste and improve final product performance.
Provide ongoing support to production teams for process and quality issues.
Generate statistical reports on material and product quality.
Maintain and correctly use precision measurement tools according to safety and procedural standards.
Monitor production recipes and suggest optimization opportunities.
Audit operations and suggest improvements for quality control tools used in manufacturing.
Provide hourly quality status reports to management via email.
Qualifications
Skills
Ability to work independently while recognizing when to escalate or seek guidance.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Excel and statistical analysis tools.
Knowledge of root cause analysis methods such as 8D 5 Whys and Fishbone Diagrams.
Strong team collaboration and communication skills.
Capable of quickly learning and applying new quality methods.
Proficient in reading blueprints and interpreting GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) drawings.
