Role Summary

About You

The School of Sport Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences is seeking to grow our team by appointing two Teaching Fellows in Physiotherapy to contribute to the delivery of our Physiotherapy programmes. Working with other members of the physiotherapy team and wider school the post holder will teach assess and support students playing an important role in the delivery of pre and post registration physiotherapy education in both campus based and placement education settings.

You will havea sound understanding of the UK healthcare context and a background of recent relevant specialist knowledge and experience of delivering personcentred and evidencebased physiotherapy practice. You will haveproven clinical skills demonstrated across one or more healthcare settings anda strong understanding of clinical reasoning and management strategies applicable to your area of contemporary physiotherapy and rehabilitation practice which may be in but is not limited to the musculoskeletal neurological or cardiorespiratory context.

You may already have some experience working in physiotherapy education or be looking to move from a clinical setting into higher education to continue your own career development. We would consider job share and parttime options for excellent candidates who wish to retain a clinical post alongside a teaching role within the school.

About the role

Working within the physiotherapy programme teams you will make a substantial contribution to the delivery of physiotherapy education on the Schools degree programmes with a focus on core clinical knowledge and skills to prepare students for practice in a range of clinical areas. You will be part of and may progress to lead module teams which plan prepare and deliver excellent engaging and challenging teaching that inspires students and prepares them for current and future practice and a career in physiotherapy. You will be involved in assessing student performance across a range of assessments including practical exams essays presentations and portfolio assessments.

As well as working with larger groups in teaching you will take on a pastoral role as a personal tutor providing support and guidance to students individually and in small group tutorials for their academic development and being their link tutor whilst on clinical placement. You may also contribute to dissertation project supervision.

The post holder may also contribute to the delivery and administration of placement education including preparing students for placements supporting the development of innovative models of placement education and universitybased placement activity and maintenance of relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

Alongside these studentfocussed activities you will be expected to contribute to the administration of education and work effectively as an interdisciplinary team member having excellent communication and interpersonal addition you will demonstrate academic citizenship developing and maintaining mutually respectful and supportive working relationships with all staff and students and ensuring the way you carry out your role impacts positively on how others carry out theirs.

You will be expected to maintain and update your own professional practice skills on a regular basis and have excellent organisational and time management skills. Opportunities will be provided for you to develop through leadership opportunities and ongoing professional development in higher education.
