Accounts Payable Officer


The Role:

To handle the financial work related to British Council Business operations Team in Egypt and to ensure and maintain a high level of Financial Control and Compliance with financial policies & processes


Accountabilities:

Some of the main accountabilities for this role include processing and validating invoices ensuring compliance with procurement policies and supporting the procurement team by monitoring open purchase orders blocked invoices and vendor documentation. Responsibilities also include verifying and correcting rejected bank payments tracking vendor line items to avoid delays or duplications settling staff operational advances maintaining and reconciling Travel & Expense (TEX) and Pcard buffers in SAP and managing travel claims. The officer processes Teaching Centre refunds posts journals and payment vouchers in SAP accurately and on time and completes reconciliation forms (Fin30 Fin31 Fin32) for fixed assets. Additional tasks include document handling with Infofort issuing cheques for various claims and payments managing legal department invoices and purchase orders and confirming Teaching Centre cash collections against TCMS reports. Occasional unsocial hours may be required during peak planning and reporting cycles.

The Accounts Payable Officer plays a key role in supporting the recently restructured Business Operations function at the British Council requiring adaptability and resilience to help embed new practices and support change management initiatives

Requirements of the role:

  • Bachelor of Commerce Accounting major
  • Knowledge of Receipting and Payment Processes
  • 3years experience in a similar role
  • Very good knowledge of Microsoft applications
  • English at Proficiency Level B2
  • Fluent written and spoken Arabic
  • Partly qualified with a recognized accountancy body to complete the CMA / ACCA exams (Desirable)
