RESPONSIBILITIES

Thompson Rivers University is seeking a sessional faculty member who will teach one section of EDTE4010: Woodworking 2.

Classes are Monday Tuesday and Thursday for three weeks at four hours and 20 minutes per class from 2:30 until 6:50 p.m.

The associated laboratory is Wednesday and Friday for three weeks. Each laboratory is 4 hours and 40 minutes from 2:30 until 6:50 p.m.

Calendar Description

This course adds to the woodworking knowledge and skills learned in EDTE 3010: Woodworking 1. In addition to the related safety processes and procedures instructional techniques suitable for teaching secondary school classes are included. Students complete the exercises and projects from the perspective of a learner and from their role as a future teacher. Students with a directly related trade qualification are not permitted to take this course for credit. Prerequisites: EDTE 3010: Woodworking 1



Requirements
  • Red Seal or Certification of Qualification in Joinery or a bachelors degree in education is required.
  • Three (3) years of experience in joinery or related field or equivalent hours teaching in Grades 812 in technology education settings is required;
  • Advanced knowledge of the principles of trade and technology education is required;
  • Evidence of successful teaching experience at the postsecondary level is preferred;
  • Excellent organizational interpersonal teamwork and communication skills required;
  • Demonstrated experience in integrating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods (TRC CA 62) is required.
  • Proven skills in building student capacity for intercultural understanding empathy and mutual respect (TRC CA 63) is required.
  • Teaching excellence including developing culturally appropriate curricula (TRC CA 10) is required.
