The Humane League (THL) is a global nonprofit ending the abuse of animals raised for food. THL fosters a highenergy culture of teamwork and missiondriven problem solving and we have earned recognition as Top Charity from Animal Charity Evaluators for all of their rating periods. At THL how animals are treated in the food system is at the forefront of our everyday work. As such many of our staff are vegan by personal choice and all of our THLhosted events offer fully vegan menus. In 2022 The Humane League launched the Animal Policy Alliance (APA) a national network of state and local animal protection and food policy advocacy groups in the US that include animals raised for food and fur among their legislative priorities. The mission of the APA is to unite to end large scale animal cruelty through policy change. To accomplish this mission THLs Public Policy team works to facilitate the sharing of resources and best practices organize trainings develop and coordinate strategies for public policy campaigns and provide the capacity building and support necessary for those strategies to succeed.
As the Animal Policy Alliance Program Lead you will play a key role in supporting the growth and operation of the APA. You will be accountable for developing and implementing member support and recruitment strategies creating and implementing resources and trainings coordinating APA members around strategic policy objectives and publicly representing the Alliance. This position reports directly to the Senior Associate Vice President of Public Policy.
This is a fulltime remote position. This position requires domestic and/or international travel equivalent to 3 or more trips per year for staff retreats conferences and meetings with APA members.
This position is based in the United States. The successful candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional or nonprofessional experience in positions related to public policy and/or animal protection advocacy or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Previous experience with event planning. Demonstrated knowledge and comprehension of legislative and regulatory processes.
Leadership: Demonstrated ability to guide support and motivate others. Drives project success and seeks out opportunities to take on leadership roles. Supports training efforts developing and delivering training sessions and ensuring clear communication and understanding.
Technology and Data Analysis: Highly proficient in using contemporary office software applications with a demonstrated ability to learn new software quickly and independently. Ability to collect organize and analyze data identifying trends and generating reports with minimal guidance.
Problem Solving and Decision Making: Ability to independently resolve problems and make decisions demonstrating sound judgment and adherence to organizational policies. Provides recommendations and justifications for decisions contributing to effective task and project management. Identifies recurring issues and suggests improvements.
Initiative Proactivity and Adaptability: Willingness to adjust plans in response to shifting strategic priorities new roles and responsibilities new systems and technologies process improvements and policy changes. Ability to quickly problemsolve and pivot to meet the demands of any given situation. Proactively seeks out additional responsibilities and opportunities for growth.
Verbal and Written Communication: Excellent verbal and written communicator with exceptional listening skills. Communicates directly and respectfully with colleagues and external stakeholders conveying information clearly to ensure comprehension and prevent or resolve disputes. Compensation and Benefits
The annual compensation range for this role is $68473 $83689. At The Humane League we believe in maintaining a fair and nondiscriminatory work environment for all employees. As part of this commitment we have implemented a job architecture framework which levels all of our roles according to size and complexity as well as a compensation step system which allows us to account for an individuals total years of related experience when determining their compensation. In addition we have adopted a no negotiation policy for salaries. To determine a jobs level we carefully consider a variety of factors including a jobs size and complexity required experience knowledge and/or skills internal comparability and market data. To determine final compensation experience will be measured by considering prior work in jobs or activities that are related to the role at THL. Candidates whose experience places them at step 5 or above of their job level within our compensation structure will be awarded a senior designation. These practices are aligned with our organizational values and help us ensure we maintain clear consistent and transparent HR processes.
