Since 1971 the HamptonNewport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of highquality essential and communitybased services to citizens of the Peninsula who are living with a mental illness developmental disabilities and substance use disorders.
As a Therapist II (LPC or LCSW) in Addiction Recovery Services at the HamptonNewport News Community Services Board you will play a pivotal role in delivering comprehensive treatment for individuals living with substance use disorders. Youll provide essential counseling to a diverse caseload of managed care clients many of whom may also experience mental illness or concurrent substancerelated disorders. In this outpatient setting youll conduct thorough assessment evaluations for incoming clients and engage in ongoing therapy employing complex theoretical approaches across individual group and family modalities. Your decisionmaking will directly affect clients treatment progress and the overall quality of our counseling services. With responsibility for helping clients identify their goals and develop effective treatment plans you will foster meaningful change and empower individuals on their journey to recovery.
A thorough knowledge of the physiological and psychological effects of substance abuse crisis intervention principles and Virginias client management guidelines will support your work ultimately ensuring highquality counseling services that significantly impact client progress in treatment.
To excel as a FullTime Therapist II (LPC or LCSW) in Addiction Recovery Services at HamptonNewport News Community Services Board candidates must possess a robust skill set tailored for working with adults facing cooccurring treatment needs. A strong foundation in therapeutic counseling crisis intervention and case management is essential supported by at least two years of clinical experience. Proficiency in completing clinical assessments including the ASAM criteria is required to effectively evaluate clients needs. The successful incumbent will also be adept at conducting a GRPA for all new enrollments while gathering additional data as mandated by grants. Moreover candidates must hold an LPC LCSW or LMFT license in Virginia and be eligible or approved for MCO credentialing.
Familiarity with various therapeutic techniques and a comprehensive understanding of client management guidelines will further equip you to provide exceptional service in this critical role.
