JOB SUMMARY

The Program Coach for Strong Families Strong Forces (SFSF) is responsible for delivering the SFSF curriculum through direct services to eligible families as part of the Service Members Veterans and Families (SMVF) grant awarded from Texas Health and Human Services Commissions Family Support Services (HHSC FSS). The SFSF curriculum is a structured evidencebased program designed to improve family communication connection and parenting skills. This role plays a vital part in promoting family resiliency and strengthening protective factors in militaryconnected households with children 017. The Program Coach facilitates these sessions using a strengthsbased culturally competent and traumainformed approach often through a combination of inperson and virtual formats depending on the needs of the families.


The ideal candidate for this role is selfdirected holds a current DoD ID card and has lived experience as part of a military family providing valuable insight into the unique strengths and challenges faced by militaryconnected households. They possess strong relationshipbuilding and communication skills particularly in engaging with military leadership and community partners. The candidate must be adaptable and willing to work flexible hours including evenings or weekends to accommodate family schedules or to participate in occasional outreach events that support program visibility and engagement.


UWSA successfully manages multiple state grants which provides program funding including pay and benefits for team members involved in servicing those grants. This position is grant funded thus continued employment is contingent upon awarded grant funding. UWSA applies for Grants that align with the community impact work it facilitates and provides. Grants are awarded for a fixed duration (typically 3 to 5 years) but are generally renewable.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • Responsible for coordinating and executing the objectives of the Strong Families Strong Forces program.
  • Develop and implement a strategic outreach and recruitment plan targeting military families with children ages 0 to 17.
  • Conduct client intakes and program enrollments while maintaining accurate and timely documentation in the client tracking system.
  • Facilitate SFSF curriculum sessions inhome virtually or in group settings engaging both parents and children in a traumainformed and strengthsbased approach.
  • Maintain regular communication with enrolled families to support engagement and successful program completion.
  • Assess families for additional needs and connect them with appropriate resources and referrals as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the SMVF Director to support the development and execution of a family engagement calendar to promote program retention.
  • Identify and establish relationships with community and military partners to support referrals and outreach efforts.
  • Represent the SFSF program at community meetings military events and outreach activities to raise awareness and build trust with military families.
  • Deliver presentations about the SFSF program to internal staff donors community stakeholders and military leadership.
  • Participate in crossagency collaboration efforts including the ReadyKidSA Coalition to support shared goals and referrals across the SMVF network.
  • Submit program updates family success stories and performance metrics to the SMVF Director on a regular basis.
  • Work with the UWSA marketing team to support development of outreach materials social media content and promotional items.
  • Assist the Grant Director in ensuring program activities are aligned with grant expectations and compliant with reporting requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the mission and goals of the Service Members Veterans and Families.


Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • DoD ID card holder
  • Associates degree required; bachelors degree preferred in Social Science Education or other related field of study.
  • Two years or more experience in social service or resource referrals.
  • Experience networking and communicating with military personnel and leadership.
  • Experience in client outreach recruitment and client engagement


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES INFORMATION

  • Knowledge or prior understanding of the issues and struggles of military families and/or prior experience working in a direct service role with families in need and/or lived experience.
  • Knowledge of the organizational and functional responsibilities and operations of military organizations.
  • Individual educator group facilitation leadership briefs and presentation skills
  • Cultivates and maintains positive relationships that promotes collaborative work with community partners.
  • Outgoing selfmotivated and independent in performing program outreach and recruitment.
  • Budget and fiscal expense management.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity and empathy regarding human service issues and project a nonjudgmental attitude towards individuals requiring assistance.
  • Professional written verbal and interpersonal communication skills for engaging with internal staff outside organizations and clients.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite MS Word Excel and Adobe
  • Strong organizational skills coordinate and execute highvolume program performance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
