Who are we looking for

GHD is seeking arecent graduate Environmental Geologist to work with our Contaminant Assessment and Remediation team on providing environmental consulting services to various clients including retail school districts industrial facilities California and the West U.S. This position will be based out of our Irvine CA Office.

Working with an energetic and high performing team this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Field implementation of work plans
  • Health and Safety Plan preparation
  • Participate in hazard identification and risk assessment activities
  • Drilling bid preparation and subcontractor procurement
  • Field work planning and coordination
  • Oversight of subcontractors during utility locates borehole clearance subsurface exploratory drilling excavating groundwater monitoring waste removal etc.
  • Collecting soil groundwater vapor and surface water samples
  • Soil logging using the Unified Soil Classification System
  • Permanent and temporary monitoring well construction/abandonment
  • Problem resolution due to unexpected field conditions
  • Support clients during emergency response projects
  • Prepare budgets and schedules
  • Communicate clear and concise technical information to internal and external stakeholder groups.
  • Obtain clear project brief (work scope) from client/manager.
  • Participate in the preparation and writing of technical reports
  • Participate in the Young Professionals group in the Region and Graduate Development Program activities.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Bachelors Degree in Geology
  • 02 years experience Graduate/Entry level
  • Valid drivers license and access to a vehicle
  • Basic understanding of California Regional Water Quality Control Board and Local Oversight Program Requirements for site cleanups
  • Ability to perform field work and travel overnight
  • OSHA 40 HAZWOPPER trained preferred
