As a Payroll Supervisor you will supervise and oversee the hourly payroll function responsible for staff career management and provides guidance and consultation to Finance and Commercial Risk management as required. Oversee the timely and accurate preparation processing disbursement and reporting of the district payroll(s) in accordance with provider agreements government regulations as well as PCL policy and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Aligns the hourly payroll teams actions with business objectives and manages the teams resource allocation requirements.
  • Provides direction to the payroll team in the preparation and processing of full cycle payroll which includes review and balancing of all payroll related allocations (i.e. rates of pay deductions hours of work burdens statutory remittances etc.).
  • Ensures all payroll controls are in place to maintain payroll process integrity and confidentiality and improves and implements new processes and procedures as needed.
  • Actively engages in the hourly payroll teams career and performance management through coaching timely feedback rewards/recognition and ongoing learning and development support.
  • Develops and maintains strong customer focused relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers.
  • Understands and interprets provider agreements and statutory legislation to ensure compliance regarding pay deductions benefits taxes and documentation and is responsible for escalating and/or resolving where discrepancies exist.
  • Audits work completed to ensure accuracy and may provide backup to senior payroll coordinator as required.
  • Reviews internal policies procedures and process and identifies and assists with process improvements and/or district initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) Certification.
  • Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) Certification obtained or actively working towards.
  • 8 years of payroll experience and 3 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Demonstrates the ability to handle people tactfully and diplomatically maintaining discretion with confidential information.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills with the ability to negotiate and present ideas and content that influence favorable outcomes.
  • Experience with preparation reconciliation and submission of monthly quarterly and annual
  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite and internal operating systems.
