Job Description

DEPARTMENT: KALISPELL CORPS SOCIAL SERVICES

POSITION TITLE: FOOD SERVICE COCOORDINATOR

STATUS: PART TIME / NONEXEMPT

SUPERVISOR: COPRS OFFICER

GENERAL STATEMENT:

SCOPE OF POSITION:

Plan and cook well balanced meals. Following the USDA nutritional guidelines. Utilizing mostly USDA Commodity and donated ingredients. Maintain a clean organized kitchen and pantry following county guidelines.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Certified cook preferred
  • Preferred 2 years of experience in institutional food service experience including: menu planning food production sanitation and management experience.


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Detail oriented and attention to detail
  • Selfstarter; Independent worker
  • Neat and clean personal appearance
  • Serve Safe certification
  • Knowledge and experience cooking in quantity
  • Must work as a team player
  • Ability to pass a background check

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate menus for the various programs of The Salvation Army keeping them in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Oversee the cleaning of the kitchen to be sure that Public Health Department regulations are followed
  • Plan prepare and serve breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday
  • Be available to assist in meeting food needs for Emergency Disaster Services (EDS)
  • Work with volunteers
  • Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen pantry walkin refrigerator and freezers organizing donations of food in appropriate ways tracking useby dates
  • Maintain records for statistical reporting
  • Keep accurate inventory of USDA Commodity Items
  • Maintain supply inventory and work with Corps Officer to order replacement supplies as necessary
  • Rotate breads and/or donated fruits and vegetables for clients home use
  • It is The Salvation Armys desire to keep employees safe. It is very important to follow all safety protocols in the workplace. To help ensure safety in the kitchen all Kitchen workers are required to wear shoes that meet the following criteria: Must wear a shoes with Closed Toes and Slip Resistant Soles

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit walk stand bend squat climb kneel and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
  • Ability to grasp push pull objects and reach overhead
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to understand written information
  • Ability to talk and communicate with clients

Miscellaneous:
It is expected that each employee will be familiar with The Salvation Army Western Territory Handbook for Employees. Questions regarding its contents can be directed toward the immediate supervisor or the CORPS OFFICER.

Life and Voluntary Options. An employerpaid life insurance policy covers employees. Voluntary supplemental life shortterm and longterm disability plans are available.

Retirement Plans: Employerfunded Money Purchase Pension Plan (Defined Contribution Plan) 50% vested at five years eligible service time. Plus an employeefunded voluntary 403(b) option.

Parental Leave: The benefit is 40 hours of Paid Leave for qualifying events.

Sick Leave: 12 days of Sick Leave annually accruing from day one eligible for use after three months service time.

Paid Vacation:

  • Two weeks annually accruing from day one for nonexempt positions.
  • Four weeks annually accruing from day one for exempt positions.
  • Accrued vacation is eligible for use after six months service time.

Paid Holidays: 13 designated holidays 1 floating holiday per year
