What you will be doing:
As the Medicaid Program Specialist 3 you will support the Medicaid State Plan Coordinator by managing stakeholder engagement and coordinating activities with advisory boards and workgroups. You will also serve as a liaison for legislative and policy matters affecting Medicaid programs and conduct other administrative work integral to the Medicaid program in the Commissioners Office. You will participate in developing coordinating and monitoring Medicaid policy changes driven by state and federal legislation. Additionally youll assist with administrative duties in the Commissioners Office including Medicaid policy stakeholder engagement and program coordination. Your position is integral to implementing State Plan Amendments (SPAs) and working closely with program staff to align operational practices.

The working environment you can expect:
This position is located in the Anchorage Department of Health Commissioners Office in the Frontier Building and is currently eligible for a hybrid telework agreement provided an individual has demonstrated they meet the documented standards for approval. The work environment is fastpaced and dynamic requiring independent problemsolving and collaborative engagement on highpriority projects. You will work on longterm policy initiatives while balancing tasks with timesensitive regulatory and compliance deadlines.

  • Requires use of federal databases related to the Medicaid State Plan (e.g. MacPro OneMac etc.)
  • Requires competence in Microsoft Office tools Adobe PDF and technical skills to telework.
  • Must be comfortable interacting with stakeholders and able to manage workload with the demands of meetings. Time and selfmanagement are integral to working in this position.

Progressively responsible professional experiencesuch as supporting the administration of a Medicaid or Medicare program health insurance service health insurance management information system health insurance finance or accounting program Supplemental Security Income benefits or vocational rehabilitation program; auditing or monitoring medical or public assistance programs for fraud or quality assurance;processing medical claims using medical coding and medical billing knowledge; designing developing testing for quality assurance and implementing an information system and/or training or education which includes such course work as business administration computer sciences economics healthcare legal studies medical billing or coding public health public assistance psychology.

Professional experience means work that is creative analytical evaluative and interpretive; requires a range and depth of specialized knowledge of the professions principles concepts theories and practices; and is performed with the power or right to decide or act according to ones own judgment.

Training and education in this guidance are synonyms for the process of acquiring knowledge and skills through instruction.
