Job Description
Location:
Estevan Comprehensive School located in the community of Estevan SK
Term:
Start Date: As soon as possible/As mutually agreed upon
End Date: June 26 2025
Tenure:
Temporary
Hours of Work:
Equivalent to 7 hours per day
Duties:
Without restricting the generality of the job description the Cafeteria Assistant shall perform such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned including but not restricted to the following:
- Stocking shelves and front end of cafeteria
- Occasionally prepare baked goods and salads as directed by the Cafeteria Support Assistant
- Receiving stock from food suppliers and ensuring it is put away properly in the correct location
- Handle monies from staff and students for the cash registers
- Ensure safety requirements are met for staff and students as directed from the teacher
- Washing and folding towels used in the kitchen
- Cleaning counters equipment and floors
- Dishwashing as needed for the kitchen
- Ensuring that the security of the kitchen is maintained at the end of day through a lock up
- Conduct oneself in a professional and practical manner within a teaching kitchen environment
- Deal tactfully with staff students parents and the public as it applies to an educational setting
- A Grade 12 diploma from a provincially recognized institution or equivalent
- Experience from other institutions such as schools or hospitals an asset but not required
- Valid FoodSafe Level 1
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team player
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing situations
- Ability to present a positive attitude and work ethic
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds without a lift
- Knowledge of industrial kitchen equipment its use and maintenance
Salary and benefits are in accordance with the currently negotiated SEIUWest Collective Agreement as listed on our website The wage range for this position is currently $20.73/hour $22.63/hour along with a full benefit package and an employer defined pension plan.
