Position Summary
The UI Extension 4H Youth Development unit is seeking applications for a 12month tenure track position as an Assistant or Associate professor Area Extension Educator. The Educator will provide program leadership districtwide technical support and statewide leadership in 4H Science Healthy Living or Citizenship. They will facilitate training for 4H volunteers and staff based in Positive Youth Development ( PYD ) principles that will promote youth Thriving indicators leading to becoming actively engaged citizens. In addition the educator will focus on expanding partnerships and bringing ancillary external resources to support the 4H youth development program (80%). In addition the educator will produce or conduct scholarly or creative products or activities (15%) and will participate in applicable university college Extension district and community committees and perform other service assignments (5%). Rank and tenure are negotiable based on how the candidate meets the criteria based on the unit and college bylaws.
Required Qualifications
Masters degree in child development adult development education or area closely related to the position. Four or more years working with 4H conducting 4H programs training 4H volunteers and providing leadership in 4H. Experience in subject matter fields of 4H science healthy living or citizenship. Experience with presenting to a variety of audiences. Experience with organization and problem solving skills at work. Experience with team communication (inperson via technologies and in groups) and communicating with the public orally in writing and by phone. Experience coordinating planning and implementing events workshops trainings and programs; organizing and preparing information and materials working with and around school age children; using good judgment and working independently.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in grant and budget management. Experience using conflict management skills. Experience networking with volunteer organizations and industry stakeholders. Experience developing recommending and evaluating program procedures/policies and recommending changes; developing technical written materials and concise reports such as policies technical manuals or rules/regulations. Experience providing technical program assistance to staff and volunteers: gathering assembling correlating and analyzing facts and devising solutions to problems.
