Job Description

Job Summary
A Precast Shapes Quality Inspection Technician is responsible for verifying the Precast Shapes and forms that are built/manufactured in the shapes shop meet all specifications. This includes all steel wooden silicon and Styrofoam forms. They will also help with other quality functions in the shapes area such as help in determining additive and water levels of the products that will be cast by reviewing set times. This position will also help track scrap levels overage levels and report items using Excel graphs.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Must review castable set times provided by QA Monolithics in SAP and determine if additives are required before casting shapes.
  • Must use historical values in the ERP system to decide additive levels.
  • Work with production to verify water level flow and set time for shapes cast and record.
  • Read drawings/prints to see what the specifications and dimensions of the forms are supposed to be. Using a tape measure and calipers verify the form dimensions are correct on all manufactured forms that are in the shapes department. Will also verify all new fabricated forms that are brought into the shapes department from outside vendors. This information will be input into the shapes computer system.
  • Measure shapes after cast to verify they meet all size specifications.
  • Record and maintain all files of found results.
  • Find opportunities for improvement and develop new efficient procedures.
  • Assist QA Supervisor in the investigation and resolution of Customer Service Requests.
  • Recommend measures to improve inspection and production methods equipment performance and quality of product.

Qualifications
  • Must have sufficient work and educational experience to satisfy job competencies. Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Reading of prints and drawings is required
  • Proficient with Excel and other MS Office applications; SAP or similar ERP experience a plus
  • Must be able to add subtract multiply and divide six place numbers. Also must have understanding of calculations using percentages. Must be able to perform these operations using units of American weight measurement volume and distance. Should be familiar with metric (SI) units as well.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Requires problemsolving ability
  • Requires written and verbal communication skills along with strong interpersonal and negotiation capabilities
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Applies feedback to improve performance; Monitors own work to ensure quality. Knows and understands SOPs. Communicates these SOPs to fellow employees.
Working Environment
  • Office and manufacturing environment.
  • May be exposed to hot or cold conditions and dust while on plant floor
  • Required to follow Allied Mineral Products Safety & Health policy and wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as appropriate.
