What does a Mobile CLINIC Driver do

Join us in our mission at the HamptonNewport News Community Services Board as a Driver for our Mobile Clinic where you will play a vital role in expanding our opioid treatment services with a mobile medication unit. This innovative service aims to provide access to evidencebased MedicationAssisted Treatment (MAT) for individuals living with opioid use disorders especially those unable to reach our Hampton Roads Clinic or officebased Opioid Treatment program in Hampton. As the Mobile Clinic Driver you will be responsible for the safe operation transportation and perform routine maintenance checks and coordinate maintenance with providers of the mobile medical unit ensuring it is in optimal working condition at all times.

Your role will involve conducting thorough pre and posttrip inspections maintaining cleanliness and supporting staff in their transportation needs. By adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations you will ensure the safety of passengers and the public while assisting in the delivery of essential services to those in need.

To excel as a Mobile Clinic Driver at the HamptonNewport News Community Services Board several key skills and qualifications are essential. Candidates should possess six months of experience driving large vehicles (approx. 34 ft) such as buses RVs or mobile units or have formal training in mass transit. A strong understanding of traffic laws and safety regulations is crucial to ensure the safety of passengers and the general public. Additionally excellent communication skills are necessary to interact effectively with staff and clients.

Attention to detail is vital for conducting pre and posttrip inspections as well as maintaining a clean and sanitized mobile unit. Familiarity with basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting is also important to ensure the unit remains in optimal working condition. This position requires a dedicated team player who is committed to delivering compassionate service while navigating the challenges of a fastpaced environment.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • Six (6) months of experience driving large vehicles (such as buses RVs or mobile units) or formal training in mass transport.
