Are you an organized resourceful professional with a knack for streamlining processes and supporting public services Join our team as an Administrative Specialist in the Eligibility & Enrollment (E&E) unit within the Division of Developmental Disabilities. This role plays a vital part in helping Nebraskans access the services they need by ensuring timely and accurate application processing and administrative support for Home and CommunityBased Services (HCBS) waivers.

Job Duties:

As a Waiver Application Specialist you will:

  • Manage the daily operations of the E&E HCBS application processing workflow.
  • Monitor and process incoming waiver applications and referrals from the HCBS mailbox.
  • Review submissions for completeness and adherence to waiver program requirements.
  • Make initial contact with applicants or authorized representatives to request documentation clarify information and support completion of the application process.
  • Coordinate with schedulers program staff and supervisors to ensure accurate assignment and tracking of cases.
  • Create and maintain documentation logs and reports to support program administration and quality improvement.
  • Interpret and apply policies and procedures to ensure compliance with agency guidelines.
  • Support internal workflow improvements and identify areas for increased efficiency.
  • Respond to public and provider inquiries offering clear and helpful guidance regarding HCBS waiver processes.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: At least one year of post high school coursework or experience in: administration office management accounting finance planning policy analysis and implementation administrative/management analysis operations research program evaluation research or similar fields; or in a field related to the programs or functions of the employing agency.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a human services or Medicaidrelated environment.
  • Familiarity with state systems such as NFOCUS SharePoint and Outlook.
  • Experience reviewing and tracking high volumes of documentation or applications.
  • Knowledge of waiver programs or public assistance systems.

Other: Some positions may require experience and/or training that is unique to the work assigned; a valid drivers license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation; and/or criminal history background checks and other specific background check protocols for their agency.



    Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Ability to interpret regulations apply policy and provide clear guidance.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools with a focus on Excel and Outlook.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
    • Strong initiative and problemsolving capabilities.
