Since 1971 the HamptonNewport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of highquality essential and communitybased services to citizens of the Peninsula who are living with mental illness developmental disabilities and substance use disorders.

Your daytoday as a Case ManagerMens SA

As a FullTime Case Manager for Mens Substance Abuse at HamptonNewport News Community Services Board you will play a vital role in ensuring continuity of care for individuals facing complex challenges related to mental illness intellectual developmental disabilities and substance abuse. Your responsibilities will encompass various essential services including outreach psychological assessments treatment planning and advocating for clients needs. Youll be directly involved in developing tailored service plans while coordinating various resources necessary for each individuals wellbeing. This dynamic position requires adept interaction with multiple professional disciplines and offers opportunities for crisis intervention supportive counseling and daily living support. You will be called upon to demonstrate creativity and innovation particularly in highstress situations involving hostile or aggressive individuals where deescalation skills are paramount.

Your expertise will empower clients to overcome barriers address their immediate and longterm needs and ultimately foster recovery and resilience within the community.

To excel as a FullTime Case Manager for Mens Substance Abuse at HamptonNewport News Community Services Board candidates must possess a Bachelors degree in Human Services such as in Social Work Psychology Sociology or Counselingalong with at least one (1) year of experience providing case management services to individuals living with a diagnosis of substance use disorder or cooccurring diagnosis of substance use disorder and mental illness. To effectively interact with diverse populations proficiency in assessment and treatment planning is essential along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong crisis intervention skills and the ability to deescalate potentially volatile situations are crucial. A valid Drivers License is required as the role includes transporting individuals as needed. The ideal candidate will demonstrate adaptability problemsolving and creativity to address resource limitations while fulfilling individual needs.

The knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • Bachelors degree in human services such as Social Work Psychology Sociology or Counseling

  • Valid Drivers License. Transports individuals as necessary.
