Job Description

We are looking for a Transmission Technician to join our growing team! The right candidate will have a strong transmission technician background and is (preferably) ASE & Ford certified. The daytoday duties include performing diagnosis and repair of transmissions and everything related to them.

Responsibilities

  • Receive repair orders from dispatcher/Advisor and take to the stall area.

  • Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with dealership and factory standards.

  • Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repairs.

  • Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.

  • Save and tag parts if the job is under warranty or if requested by the customer.

  • Examine the vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required.

  • Notify service advisor immediately if additional work outlined is not needed or required.

  • Notify service advisor immediately if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised.

  • Roadtest vehicles when required or refer to the test technician keeping in mind that the customer vehicle should not be used for personal errands.

  • Supervise work of any apprentice technicians as assigned.

  • Keep shop area clean and be able to account for all dealershipowned tools at all times.

  • Understand and follow federal state and local regulations such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes.

  • Must follow all company safety policies and procedures and immediately report any and all accidents to a manager or supervisor.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of Transmission Technician experience preferred

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • ASE Certification preferred

  • Ford Certification preferred

  • Previous experience at a Ford dealership is preferred

  • Dexterity requiring a steady hand excellent handeye coordination

  • Mechanical and troubleshooting skills and ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment

  • Excellent customer service skills and basic computer competencies

  • Positive friendly attitude along with an eagerness to improve

  • Enjoy working in a dynamic environment

  • Teammate with ability to collaborate with others effectively

  • Ability to learn new technology repair and service procedures and specifications

  • Valid drivers license and clean driving record
