ASSYST is seeking a highlyskilled Safety Contractor to support our County clients Division of Risk Management. This role will assist the Countys Safety Manager in reviewing and improving safety processes and policies developing strategic plans for occupational health and safety and coaching employees in effective problemsolving and conflict resolution. This position plays a critical role in shaping the Countys Safety and Occupational Health Program for the next five (5) years.
Responsibilities:
Review safety processes and policies for County departments and offices; edit and rectify versions as determined through review; and develop timelines and schedules for the frequency of updates to Departments and offices safety processes.
Collaborate with the Countys Safety Manager to identify the methodology to manage resources connect with operating departments and assist to develop and implement an ideal strategy for the Safety and Occupational Health program for the next five (5) years.
Advise and coach employees on successful management strategies including problem solving and conflict management and resolution.
Collaborate with County staff on the Countys Heat Stress program in areas such as writing communications and programming training and documenting these areas for the County related to the new Maryland Occupational Safety and Health (MOSH) regulation to protect County employees who are exposed to high heat stress.
Review Countys current trainings; develop a catalog of available classes; identify any gaps in available training classes and suggest additional trainings including the training approach and multiple options; develop a Worksite Safety Coordinator (WSC) compliance training module including PowerPoint presentation; and create a process to hold departments WSCs accountable for incomplete trainings.
Consult and advise on steps and processes to resume the Countys Safety Program in a manner similar to what the County had in calendar year 2022 pertinent documentation will be provided; identify current and potentially new Safety Program goals; and develop the plan to reach these goals.
Evaluate in conjunction with County staff if there is value in consolidating the Countys multiple safety programs (Jobsite Safety Analysis Self Insurance Program Safety Data Sheets training etc.) into one platform with webbased access.
Requirements:
Proven expertise in safety program development and occupational health planning
Experience in training development and delivery particularly in safety and compliance contexts
Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail
Effective interpersonal and communication skills for coaching and conflict resolution
Familiarity with Maryland Occupational Safety and Health (MOSH) regulations
Ability to work collaboratively with crossfunctional teams and County departments
