Description

The Department of Neurology at Mayo Clinic Arizona is recruiting one Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on diverse problems within neurology and neuroscience. The fellow will be mentored by Dr. Oana Dumitrascu MD MSc ( Dr. Oana Dumitrascu Bio) and Dr. Gina Dumkrieger PhD. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in and quantitative experience with neuroimaging retinal imaging large databases (e.g. UK Biobank) and machine learning/artificial intelligence models. In the initial project the fellow will develop multimodal (clinical and imaging data) diagnostic and prognostic models related to Alzheimers disease cerebrovascular and other cognitive disorders.

We are searching for an individual who is ready to take the analytical lead in this exciting project to identify neuroimaging vascular biomarkers of early AD and digital biomarkers which differentiate early AD from other causes of cognitive impairment. This person will work closely with a crossdisciplinary team of physicians and other researchers but qualified individuals will have experience working with limited supervision and will contribute actively to the development of the research projects they work on.

The Research Fellow will contribute to new project development grant writing data analyses and scientific manuscripts/presentations (first author and coauthor). There will be opportunities to develop independent research projects and grant proposals based on individual research interests. Candidates will participate in training education and professional development opportunities available at the Mayo Clinic or Arizonas local top Universities. The Fellow will also receive support to present at professional meetings or other professional development opportunities.

A Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic is a temporary position intended to provide training and education in research. Individuals will train in the research program of a Mayo Clinic principal investigator. Qualified individuals will demonstrate the potential for research as evidenced by their training and peerreviewed publications and should become competitive for national research grants. Upon background check and CCATS Executive Committee approval Research Fellow may have patient/research subject contact directly relating to and incidental to the original research program. Proof of English proficiency is required for J1 ShortTerm Scholars Research Scholars Professors Specialists and Student Interns sponsored by Mayo Clinic. The following is required for the completion of the application:



Qualifications

Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a field deemed relevant by the research program. Preferred degrees may include computer science applied math neuroscience or closely related quantitative field. Individuals currently enrolled in an accredited doctoral degree program with expected graduation prior to position commencement will be considered.

Additional Qualifications:The ideal candidate will have prior experience conducting imagingbased neurology research. We are specifically interested in a motivated individual who can work well as a member of an interdisciplinary team and who has excellent organizational timemanagement and communication skills.
