The Analytics Business Intelligence and Knowledge Management team provides analytical support to programs/services across Quinte Health as well as key strategic quality performance and financial initiatives. The team is composed of experienced professionals who support the organizations data needs including reporting visualization analysis and database management.
The hospital has recently implemented a new Clinical Health Information System (Cerner) requiring an extensive backend redevelopment of our analytics infrastructure. Additionally the organization is in the early stages of implementing a data governance framework to ensure standardized documentation and improved data accessibility.
Reporting to the Director Analytics Business Intelligence and Knowledge Management the Database Developer/Analytics Consultant will be responsible for analytics and business intelligence development while contributing to the administration and documentation of the hospitals data infrastructure. This role requires expertise in data extraction transformation and visualization along with an understanding of database architecture data governance principles and documentation best practices.
This is a hybrid position which would allow for a combination of at home and onsite workdays.
Undergraduate Degree in a relevant field (Health Informatics Biostatistics Epidemiology Public Health Statistics Math Engineering Computer Science Science etc.).
Masters Degree (completed or in progress) in a related discipline is an asset.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a decision support analytics or database management environment; healthcare experience is preferred.
Experience working in complex data environments including enterprise data warehouses and relational databases.
Proficiency in SQL Server Development including the ability to develop and maintain views stored procedures and data models.
Strong knowledge of business intelligence and visualization tools such as Power BI.
Experience working with CIHI datasets (e.g. DAD NACRS OMHRS CCRS and NRS) IntelliHealth iPort and hospital data.
Understanding of healthcare funding models such as the Growth and Efficiency Model (GEM) QBPs Bundled Care and patientbased funding.
Strong problemsolving analytical and criticalthinking skills.
Demonstrated competency in qualitative and quantitative data analysis visualization and reporting.
Ability to analyze and present complex information in an easytounderstand manner.
Strong communication interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fastpaced evolving environment.
Commitment to data governance principles including documentation of data assets and flows.
Analytics & Business Intelligence:
Extract transform and analyze data from multiple sources to support evidencebased decisionmaking performance monitoring and quality improvement initiatives.
Develop and maintain dashboards scorecards and reports using Power BI to provide meaningful insights to clinical and administrative stakeholders.
Conduct data quality checks and ensure data integrity across all reporting platforms.
Partner with internal and external stakeholders to identify data needs streamline workflows and enhance datadriven decisionmaking.
Provide technical expertise and educate endusers on data interpretation and reporting tools improving overall data literacy within the organization.
Engage in process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce manual reporting efforts.
Support reporting to and from external agencies and data portals (Ontario Health MOHLTC CIHI etc.).
Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in healthcare analytics business intelligence and data visualization.
Database Development Administration & Documentation:
Design develop and optimize data models to improve data accessibility and reporting efficiency.
Develop and maintain SQL Server views stored procedures and database structures to support the hospitals reporting and analytics needs.
Collaborate with the Data Architect and Analysts to integrate data governance principles including standardized documentation of data flows assets and reporting structures.
Contribute to the creation of a report library and data dictionary ensuring consistency and clarity across analytics products.
Assist in database performance tuning troubleshooting and maintenance activities as needed.
Document database procedures data flows and system integrations to enhance transparency and efficiency.
Identify opportunities to automate and improve data pipelines to support business intelligence and analytics functions.
Other Responsibilities:
Engage in collaborative initiatives with key hospital departments such as IT Finance Clinical Informatics.
Contribute to internal knowledgesharing initiatives to foster continuous learning within the team.
