About the unit
2 South is a 41bed Orthopedic/Progressive unit at Butterworth Hospital. 2 South cares for medical patients as well as some surgical patients. As a team member on 2 South you will see a wide variety of patients. Some of those diagnoses include Orthopedic Trauma Ortho Oncology Hip & Spine Fractures Spine Surgery where the other population is Progressive Care and Med/Surg overflow. These diagnoses can be anything from COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) Pneumonia Sepsis Congestive Heart Failure Respiratory Failure Cardiac Drips Bi pap as well as Post Op heart ablation and pacemaker replacement patients. Teamwork is what keeps 2 South thriving. They rely on each other to get through shifts and keep their staff united. With over 20 years of the same leadership the culture on the unit is a wonderful place to learn and help develop you into a wellrounded caregiver.

Scope of work
Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment diagnosis outcomes identification planning implementation and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice culturally congruent practice communication collaboration leadership education evidencebased practice and research quality of practice professional practice evaluation resource utilization and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.
