Job Description

Description

The Unit Secretary under the direction of the Clinical Manager/Charge Nurse Staff RN or LPN provides indirect patient care. This individual meets the communication needs of the patient/family departmental staff and medical staff. The Unit Secretary prepares and compiles medical records as well as orders and stocks basic office supplies for the unit. It is expected that as needs arise he/she will be flexible and float to other units. In addition to participating in performance improvement activities the Unit Secretary works cooperatively with the medical and hospital staff who support the care of adolescent adult and geriatric patients.

The qualified candidate will possess the following:


A. Education
1. High school diploma or GED from an accredited institute required
2. Obtains at least 12 hours of continuing education; a minimum of six hours must be specific to assigned area of nursing

B. Experience
1. Experience preferred
2. Basic computer experience

C. Licensure/Certification
1. CNA in the state of Georgia preferred
2. Health Unit Coordinator certification desirable
3. BCLS required recertification annually
