Job Description

CHEMISTRY TEACHER FOR CHEMISTRY 1112 (PartTime)

We are searching for a dedicated dynamic teaching professionalto join our team of exceptional educators. Franklin School is an independent school located in downtown Vancouver British Columbia. This position is ideal for a retired teacher or teacher looking for parttime work.

We are searching for a dedicated dynamic teaching professionalto join our team for the following subject(s):

  • CHEMISTRY Teacher 1112
  • Possibility of some junior Science 9 or Science 10.
  • Experience teaching ELL or international students would be an asset
  • Experience teaching Advanced Placement (AP) courses would be an asset

The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching and inspiring students in attaining the highest levels of engagement and academic success.

APPLYING FOR A TEACHING POSITION

To teach at Franklin School applicants must possess the necessary qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A Bachelors degree or academic equivalent in an appropriate field of study (e.g. Bachelor of Science plus a Bachelor of Education or Professional Development Program PDP in teacher education at the Secondary Level).
  2. A valid British Columbia Teaching Certificate or Independent School Teaching Certificate;
  3. Recent successful substantive teaching or practical experience in the relevant subject area.

Please note: Applicants must be able to work in Canada legally and must submit to a criminal record and a vulnerable sector check as a prerequisite for employment at Franklin School.

  • Knowledge of British Columbias Curriculum core competencies methodology and pedagogy;
  • Knowledge of a broad range of effective differentiated instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of all students;
  • Knowledge of a wide range of formative and summative assessment practices based on sound educational research and best practices;
  • Knowledge of inquirybased educational strategies studentcentred authentic performance tasks and projectbased learning;
  • Knowledge or interest in developing and delivering AP (Advanced Placement) courses.
  • Knowledge of consultative and collaborative strategies;
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and problemsolving skills;
  • Collegial flexible supportive and an effective teamplayer;
  • Effective organizational and time management skills;
  • A dynamic creative and innovative approach to educating the whole child;
  • Ability to effectively integrate technology to engage and enrich student learning;
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with all educational and community stakeholders;
  • A commitment to creating a culture of excellence a sense of belonging and an inclusive community of learners and leaders and;
  • A commitment to the teaching profession high standards of professional and ethical practice and a commitment to continued professional growth and development.
