Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum of one year of experience driving a heavy truck or operating a snowplow.

Alternative qualifications include: Any combination of related work experience and education equivalent to the minimum qualifications.

Other education training certification or licensing required:

Valid Montana Commercial Operators License (Class A Type II) with endorsements for air brakes and tankers is required with no restriction for operating a manual transmission.

Valid Medical Examiners Certification (MEC).

This position belongs to the MFPE bargaining unit. The successful candidate will receive more information about the union and the option to join the union during the onboarding process. MDT MFPE bargaining unit members will have preference.

Drivers record will be verified. Successful applicants will be required to sign a release form which authorizes the Department to obtain the applicants permanent driving records. Compliance with Mont. Admin. R. 2.6.201 State Vehicle Use and MDT Policy #6.03.001 State Vehicle Use Policy are conditions of employment.

Proof of eligibility to work in the United States must be provided if selected for hire. Generally sponsorship for work authorization is not available through the State of Montana. MDT is not enrolled in EVerify and is unable to hire F1 STEM OPT visa candidates.

Position Title:Spring / Fall CDL Driver

Description:

The Montana Department of Transportation is recruiting for a Seasonal CDL Driver. The seasonal CDL driver employee will support the sections permanent Data and Statistics staff in the functional operation of the tractor trailer including preoperational safety checks scheduling regular service and repair work adding fluids etc. Calibration activities are conducted in the spring and fall.
