Shift Times: Monday Friday (3:30PM 11:30PM)

As the need for our services grows and becomes increasingly complex Catholic Charities is working to adapt and respond. We respond in three ways preventing poverty meeting basic needs in times of crisis and creating pathways out of poverty.

WAGE RANGE: $19.00$21/hour

JOB SUMMARY: Catholic Charities is seeking a dynamic and selfmotivated individual who is compassionate traumainformed and culturally aware to serve as a Shelter Advocate II at our Maplewood location.

Catholic Charities Family Service Center provides families with a safe stable place to sleep and get back on their feet. From shelters for families and youth who are experiencing homelessness to onsite medical and dental care we work to identify needs and streamline services to help our neighbors regain independence and achieve housing stability.

Service Center Amenities and Services

• Temporary housing for families who are experiencing homelessness
• Familystyle meals served three times daily
• Referrals to community resources and services
• Front desk staff/secure entrance
• Childrens activities
• Tutoring for schoolaged children
• Housing and employment search assistance

This position under general supervision will maintain a clean safe and secure environment for clients by providing referral information on a wide variety of topics including housing employment and healthcare and deescalating situations as appropriate. They will check all clients for prohibited items prior to their entry into the facility and communicate information regarding clients and programmatic concerns both in writing and verbally to other staff.

They will ensure that rules and policies are enforced consistently.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Provide high quality customer service to all persons by completing all applicable client requests.
2. Be vigilant of the facilities safety and security by utilizing conflict resolution and deescalation skills to defuse crisis situations as required.
3. Responsible for promptly and accurately collecting entering managing and reporting of client data into systems of record.
4. Respond to and submit incident reports for all instances of chemical abuse theft threats and violations of program rules.
5. Serve as a Mandated Reporter.
6. Complete regular rounds checking all exits fire doors and safety equipment as well as monitoring residents activities in common areas to ensure safety and security.
7. May drive van and/or administer breathalyzers as required for program.
8. Assist supervisor/manager with program development facility operations and other responsibilities.
9. Assist with mentoring and positionspecific training as required.
10. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERTISE:

• Ability to work with lowincome populations including those who may be experiencing homelessness unstable housing and/or mental illness required.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Ability to accurately enter data into computer system for reporting purposes.
• Must be 21 years of age and successfully pass a criminal and a Department of Human Services background check if required by program license.
• Minimum of (1) one year of relevant experience.
